Just getting my sight back after retina reattachment surgery! I couldn't see to good for a while (thats an understatement). I should be able to drive the cage by March and the Valk by spring (I Hope).
I have a windshield on the bike and I wear raybans almost all the time. What would your ideas be for the best goggles to buy? I was thinking ski or motorcross, but they are so big. I know a full face is the best and i have one. but i am looking for good goggles TIA Brothers and Sisters!!

I usually like stuff I get here:

  http://www.aerostich.com/off-and-riding/sunglasses-and-goggles

I recently got some dorky looking wrap-around sunglasses, because my cool-looking Wayfarers
don't cut it when the afternoon sun hits you from the side... I just noticed there's some
wrap-arounds here much better coverage than what I got...

Glad you're back!

You do not say if you must have your eyes corrected for distance vision (glasses).

I do (now trifocals), but have found that Wiley-X SG1 glasses/goggles offer extremely good eye protection with my half helmets, even a Scorpion exo100 with the visor down.  These glasses have foam around the eye pieces to keep out dirt and wind, and come with an assortment of expensive lenses; but I order the cheapest pair I can find because the lenses are thrown away and I get my own distance vision (only, no need for bi/trifocal while riding) prescription polycarb with polarization lenses.  They come with both glasses arms (over the ears), and with a quick release, an around the head goggle strap which gives the glasses a much tighter fit to keep out dust, dirt and bugs.... even with a windshield.  If you do not need correction, then get a pair with the lenses you like.  They are very will made.

Some pretty good deals on propertyroom.com for Bobster googles, sunglasses and convertibles.  I just got a couple of pairs and really like them.

Bonzo,

Great to hear from you. The only time I wear sunglasses is when I am fishing. I always use a tinted face shield on my full face helmet when riding......most of the time it is up, adjusted to block the sun in the daytime....all the way up at night. The only time I switch to a clear shield is when it's raining.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear you are "Back in the game!"

I was real surprised when we spoke last week to hear about the surgery but glad you are on the way back  Maybe Gman and I will ride up and say hello one of these sundays if it stops snowing on the mountain

Eyewear in the form of glasses must be ANSI approved in NYS

Otherwise goggles are required but for some reason they dont have to be ansi approved safety polycarbonate

Goggles are the best since you wear a shorty helmet   If you wore a full face (yeah I know your big ole head wont fit) you could wear safety glasses

I will email you a link to a place that sells em cheap, in fact next time I am up your way I will bring some for you to try out   The smith and wesson ones are real full coverage

Say hi to Patti for me

Go to a good welding supply .... at least here in Tx they all have large selections of really nice and cool looking ANSI rate safety glasses.  Have even found some with readers built in!  Most run $7 to $12 bucks....

I wear these goggles with my offroad helmet when ATVing.  They are made to wear over glasses.

I really like this helmet.  It's a half helmet and has the zip off ear flaps.  The half-shield deploys (spring loaded) with the push of a thumb... from above, sort of like a pilot's visor.  You can interchange "clear" or "tinted" ones.  Between my windshield, this, and my glasses I wear... it's pretty good.

7 EYE

The used be PanOptx.  I wear contact lenses and try to avoid dust and wind at all costs.  This is a great company.  Very good materials, choices, and cutomer service.  My kid busted off both arms of my first pair and they replaced the glasses for free and they were more than a year old at the time.  I just got a second pair that are photochromatic as well.  A little pricey, but soooooo wirth it.

Hope the healing process goes well, brother Bonzo!  We miss you too and looking forward to another Winery ride and/or a meal at Cedar Rapids!

Glad you had the surgery, Bonzo, beats going blind, and hope your healing goes as planned. Can't help with the goggles, but one of the local dealers here sells some cheap glasses that have foam around each lens frame & I've been wearing those all winter, my eyes don't tear up like they have before. I had Wiley X, but they were a little large for my face. If you'd like, I could pick up an el cheapo pair & send 'em to you, let me know what you think. Good to hear from you,

Wow! Thank you all for the responces! My vision was corrected in the previous Cataract surgeries some what but I still require glasses for both reading and distance. With the Left eye that had the detachment, the amount and or quality of sight has not yet been established.
I always wear Rayban polycarbonate polarized sunglasses, straight distance as a perfered glasses when driving or riding.
I like the Scott Goggles. I am going to have to get a full coverage, all aroungd type that I can wear over my glasses.
Thank you all for responding and i am going through all the links.
Peace!
