No one had had any of this for several years.

I just ordered a K of them.

They have 16K left (you don't have to get a K, it's about $10 a box of 50).  Maybe high, but no one else makes this quiet stuff.  4 cents a round cheaper for a K.

It is slow speed (420 fps muzzle), and very quiet.  Quieter than a supersonic pellet from a pellet rifle (bit louder from a handgun).  No gunpowder at all, just the fulminated mercury of rimfire primer as propellant.  Obviously not long range stuff, but quite accurate at yard distances.

It is low power 20 grain bullets (not 40gr like most 22LR), and lacks enough push to cycle a semiauto.  So you have to handcock each shot from a magazine (or single load).  They warn it may lack power to exit a full length rifle barrel, but I've shot this stuff from 2 rifles for many years and never had one hangup (with or without an oil patch down the bore).  If you would use a rifle, an oil patch before shooting is a good idea anyway.

The Super Colibri (at 600fps muzzle), is still out of stock.

I don't know if Carl would appreciate this.  I'm not trying to increase Aguilla or Midway USA business, but trying to help out our membership who might want this specialty ammo.

I still keep .22 Winchester shorts though they don't cycle thru the 10/22 blow-back design. My Hatsun .177 1,100 fps air rifle is pretty damn quiet but my nearest neighbor is a 1/4 mi. away also. The pellet rifle is extremely deadly to rabbits especially the sight setup when dark.

When Big R AG store in Watsekla, IL starting going out business, I purchased it for $54 w/4x power scope included and later H4 Silverstar HL bulbs for $6 a piece. They were the best of the AG stores in the area. Rural King and TSC are our AG stores now.

They sound perfect for my single shot Ithaca saddle rifle.  cooldude

Full power .22 sub sonics through my Savage MK II FV-SR with a SilencerCo Sparrow can on the end of it is quite effective, and whisper quiet...

My .22 cal spring piston pellet rifle can be heard all over loud and clear, and there's probably a 100 homes within a quarter mile of me (and anyone who knows that loud snap, knows it's an air rifle) .  I specifically got it for yard hole digging grey squirrels, and cannot use it.

I've used these Colibri "training rounds" in my CZ Scout (a short-barreled version of their 452/457 .22 bolt action) to dispatch numerous varmints in my urban garden.  As Jess stated, they're actually quieter than the pellet gun I used previously.  Lethally speaking, they're best limited to 15-20 yards - and head shots are needed for larger critters (e.g., rabbits).  Topped with a Leupold 4X scope, the combination has proven pretty effective (provided I do my part, of course).

Per prior comments, I tried these in a Ruger 77/22 and ended up having to remove a stuck bullet lodged 3/4 way down the barrel.  A shorter-barreled bolt action or single shot would probably be the best way to go.  Obviously, common sense should be exercised if you have nearby neighbors.

They have no problem clearing the barrel on a Marlin model 25 and at 15 yards will nearly penetrate 3/4" particle board.  Plenty powerful enough to dispatch small critters at close range.

That CZ Scout is a nice rifle.   I like CZ.   cooldude

I took their warnings about shooting it in a rifle to heart, always oil patched the barrel before shooting it, and was especially careful to never fire a 2d round into a lodged bullet (bad news and maybe a destroyed bbl).

But in years of shooting thousands of Colibri (420fps) and Super Colibri (600 fps), I never once had a bullet lodge in the bbl (18.5" bbl Ruger, and 20.5" bbl CZ, but 98% the Ruger) (and both with 4X scopes).

Given your experience (and their warning), shooting it from a rifle always bears close watching.  If you don't see or hear a hit after shooting (and the quiet lets you hear a hit), check that bore before loading and firing another.   (You never need hearing protection at all shooting it either.)

Well, my thousand rounds arrived yesterday from Midway.

According to my rough calculations, I should be all set until I'm about 105yo.   Grin
