https://www.ford-trucks.com/articles/2025-mustang-gtd-nurburgring/

""Mustang GTD includes an 815 horsepower version of the supercharged 5.2L Predator motor from the most recent Shelby GT500. Plus that active aero, which is both underneath the car and in the massive GT3-style rear wing. The GTD also features standard carbon ceramic brakes as well as an inboard rear suspension with Adaptive Spool Valve dampers developed by Multimatic. (They’re able to transition from their softest to firms settings in 15 milliseconds.)

The 2025 Mustang GTD will become available to customers sometime next year. All of which had to apply for the privilege of purchasing a GTD before Ford hand-selected each customer.""

""But perhaps even more interesting will be the competition that comes from Chevrolet and its new halo model, the 2025 C8 Corvette ZR1. Last month, news broke that the Germany-based magazine, Sport Auto, failed to break the 7-minute mark with the 670 horsepower C8 Corvette Z06, a time that reportedly matched General Motor’s internal (unannounced) results. But the forthcoming ZR1 boasts 1,064 twin-turbocharged horsepower, the most powerful production V8 in history, and a mid-engine layout. Which means the ZR1 is likely poised to match or best the GTD in the Ring’s Sports Car class. And if it succeeds, the Chevrolet would do so a mass-produced car that runs down an assembly-line, not a hand-built supercar like the GTD.""

302 down the straight, pretty darn fast.

Driver seemed pretty well seated throughout the whole lap and certainly hit all his marks. Didn’t hear any tire spin or see the car break loose in any of the turns, sounded pretty nice too.

Excellent point O2S.   Accuracy is important.

And soon thereafter the salvage yards will begin to receive them......

I thought this was a race car, but re-reading the article it says entirely stock.

I knkw there are current stock Mustang models out there that will push close to the 180 (or better) mark already so I thought with this being a race version the 300 didn’t seem unreasonable. Plus why have an American car with KMH on the screen. Maybe it was for the driver’s convenience, Dirk Muller is German.

Well any way, as O2S said, he was haulin’ the mail.

The physics of the issue tell me 300 mph would not be possible at the 800-900 hp level. Ford has used the same marketing ploy before in making the customer beg for the opportunity to pay an exorbitant amount of money for one of their limited production vehicles. I think the latest version of the GT 40 was one of those offerings. It’s an expensive game but the winners usually come out on top as values invariably go up substantially as time passes. The GT 40’s couldn’t hit 300 mph either.

There is an ad on Facebook right now for a 2024 Ford Shelby Raptor pickup truck, one of only 50 in the world, and one of only three left on the market for the low, low, lowwww, price of $219,990.00! One might ask how Shelby had anything to do with the truck since he has been dead for years. I guess Ford must own the rights to the Shelby name?
