25.2 Deg F Here.

High is supposed to be 27 Deg F from 1900 to day until 2200.

Snow predicted accumulation about 1".

But the chances of snow are close to 50/50.  We shall see.

Keith,

I'm just up the road from you in LA, and it's about the same here too! Poor ole ALI had a few pellets of sleet stuck to her this morning, and just now I spotted a couple of actual flakes of that mysterious white substance dancing about in the spanking breeze here. Dang... For us Florida boys, those are not welcome sights to behold!!!

I'm not happy about why we're having to be hunkered down, but all things considered, I am mighty glad to be indoors... Funny, it doesn't seem very long ago at all that I was whining about the heat... Oh well, maybe I'm just hard to please... reckon?

I feel for all of you down south. You don't have the equipment to deal with the snow. We're getting a real Ohio winter up here. It took me 2 hours to make a 50 minute drive Saturday because of white out conditions. Today a high of 10 and going to be -7 degrees tonight , possibly -15 or -20 degrees overnight. Windchills during daylight will be down to -10 and overnight wind chills then could be -30 to -40 degrees. Best of luck to everyone everywhere. They said up here the whole south (about a 1500 mile swath) getting measurable snow. The prevalent saying now is if you said you'll do it when hell freezes over- well your on deck to complete you're task.

Just a very few weeks until BikeWeek in Daytona! Doubt I’ll be there, but I could sure use a double dose of temperate weather. I imagine it’s been close to 20 years since I made the trek to BikeWeek but so much has changed the weather is about the only enticement , that and a place called the Stonewood Grill. They sure have a fine steak there. I’m due one more but maybe not this year.

Bruce, I was one of those complaining about the heat tickedoff and now we have gotten about 7-8” of snow at the time of typing this! I really prefer the heat over the COLD! We are not hard to please we just know what we prefer and sometimes we are vocal about it!  coolsmiley

Well we are at 7-8” right now, this is historic for our area. I’m 1895 Pensacola recorded 3” os snow. We blew that number away as it is still snowing! 24* out with wind chills of 12-15*.  Shocked Yes this is the Pan-handle of FL.  coolsmiley

so weird, florida getting more snow in winter so far than southern WI.  they say and is predicted that this January will set a record of least snowfall EVER in southern WI.  ONLY shoveled, coulda let it go, ONLY once this winter nothing major few inches is all.  NOT complaining but farmers, etc. will be hurting since the ground is in a drought of NO snow cover at all.

Being in upper 3rd. of Indiana, we're getting a good deep soil freeze which also pleases the soil and farmers too. -5 Tues. night with hardly a breeze and warmed thru last night to +5 so far. Moisture has been mostly rain before this freeze. Our area the crops was a very good last year which most the time they are. Farming a old swamp makes for very good crops.

It seems I remember from my younger days that years where we had deep freezes usually meant fewer insects in the spring. They didn’t disappear but they were noticeably fewer. It was -2 this morning in East Central Keuntucky.

A couple weeks ago, my part of TN got between 6 to 8+ inches of that white stuff.   Thankfully we only got a dusting from this most recent Artic Cold Front.   Hope folks south of us don't mind but, we were happy to share the winter wonderland experience.  Wink

Can't tell you just how much I dislike that white stuff.   The normally used term is one of those four letter words I hesitate to use.   2funny

Snow in central Florida is even more unusual, but I recall many years ago we had an unusual event. I was attending some mid-winter meetings in Tallahasee also attended by a friend Skip from Jacksonville...about 150 miles north of Orlando where I lived at the time. As we parted ways Friday morning, I teased Skip about the upcoming cold front predicted to sweep through over the weekend, saying he was a northerner living in Jacksonville(Jax for short) and us southerners in Orlando will fare better. As it turned out, Orlando got about a 1" dusting while Jax lounged in 40 degree temps. Needless to say, I got numerous calls Monday morning. Apparently it was a narrow band of cold air passing through that brought the flakes, most of which were gone by midday. It was rather strange though, temps 50-60 miles south of Orlando were a good 20 deg. higher, hence no snow. As for temps in central Florida in winter, although unusual I've seen them in the teens for a few days running, often in the 20's & 30's. The nice thing about it is...it doesn't last. I lived there for 53 years, experienced one hurricane but a lot of warm winter weather. I'll take it any day over Wisconsin, but again I'm outvoted 1:1 when it comes to moving.  Wink

Well the official snow totals for the Pan-handle. I live in Milton and had 9" at my house.

And this was our recently purchased snowplow to share in the Pan-handle region.

wow

2 degrees this morning

Let the car warm up a bit and did not let rpm's over 2k till the temp needle was into normal range

Not sure how reliable these transmissions are in the cold so treated the Rogue like I treated my 57

Love this climate warming stuff.  The temp dont bother me, rather cold than hot and humid just cant ride in this icy stuff

Season low record this year at -3*f during Tuesday am hours. ( or was it Wednesday am?)

Snow fall this season has been only two storms that required driveway clearing.

Ice fisherman are digging it.

Shortly after signing out here yesterday, my son called me from Foley Alabama complaining about 7" they got. Propane tank was sucked right down by furnace (they're still in RV training so to speak Grin) before the next tank change. Water line froze about 3:00 am. Good thing the northern brain was available.  Grin

Checking the current temps in North America, it's colder in Mexico than in New England.
