Day 11 – 6/28/09 (Part 2) --- 22 miles (In and around Banff, Alberta)
40 at 7 AM --- 73 at 6:20 PM
After lunch, we all went to the Bow River Falls. We walked up 170 steps to view Tunnel Mountain, the Bow River and Bow Falls and the Banff Springs Hotel. Then went rode to the Banff Hotel and walked through it and spent time taking pictures on the patio. The Banff Hotel was built by the owner of the Canadian Pacific Railroad in the 1880’s. After a stop at a candy store in town, we said “Good-by” to Gryphon-Rider and his family. We had a wonderful time them and hope to meet them again someday. Navigator and I rode to Lake Minnewanka and Jack Fork Lake. We returned at 6:00 and ate at Melissa’s Missteak, where we had Bumbleberry Pie for dessert. We highly recommend it. It was made with apples, rhubarb, raspberries and blackberries.
