Prepping up for upcoming filing, I've collected all my 1099s, and see Navy Federal CU is the only one missing.

I have a good idea why, but I call anyway, and trying to avoid the interminable press 1 for this and 2 for that, I begin yelling "agent, representative, human being, person" into the phone (just like I do with all those recordings), becasue that's what I always want.

I get a nice young lady on the phone and tell her I only keep several thousand with them because I had no local bank for cash requirements (my principle bank/CU are not local).  And I keep most all in checking so it can be tapped if necessary.  So I likely earned below the minimum interest threshold for issuance of a 1099 at all, but I have no idea if that is the case exactly 'and I want no trouble with my friends down at the IRS' (she giggles).  After verifying who I am, she punches me up on the system, and tells me I earned 77 cents for 2024.  That's what I thought, and I'm not required to even report it, 'and if I don't, I'm not a felon right?' (she giggles again).  That's correct sir, no requirement for a 1099 or report of interest under ten dollars.  I will report it anyway.

Saw a cartoon months past of a guy bent over taking a dump and an IRS agent catching the dump in a net.  Caption says...."IRS agent looking for that nickel you accidently swallowed 2 months ago..."
