I got home from the gym in time to see some of the half-time show of the Super Bowl. As the title states...what a joke. Little Johnny One Note up there strutting around like a monkey on a leash talking through some jibberish while a bunch of dummies were acting spastic behind him. No music involved with him so I wasn't sure what he was trying to put across unless it was to prove he couldn't sing. Did that quite well.

Then some female put on a show with a bunch of other females squirming in the background. I couldn't understand what either "performer" was saying. As for the female type, it was almost laughable to watch because all of her backup at times looked like they were having a communal orgasm simutaneously. Made me wonder...what ever happened to having a musical presentation. crazy2

And if you have to have someone explain your (Extremely racist and not diverse) performance, ya' kinda missed the point of being entertaining, but here's a writeup as to what messages they were trying to convey, evidently...

https://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/5135981-kendrick-lamar-super-bowl-halftime-performance-serena-williams-drake-not-like-us/

Meanwhile I was over here hitting the "Down Volume" button like this:

(Not really, spousal unit wanted to experience the half time vomit, so I went to the other room until she told me it was safe to come back.)

I had no idea of the overtones to this performance. I simply don’t like or appreciate rap music therefore turned the volume down while the halftime show was on. In my humble opinion, there is only one national anthem and although he was at the beginning of a Super Bowl in my opinion, it wasn’t done as well as it could’ve been done. But again, that’s just my opinion.
One has to wonder where the NFL is going.   Although I didn’t see it, I was advised the  Black   National Anthem was sung earlier in the early part of the pregame.   I thought we had one  National Anthem for everyone.

Just admit it John, you wouldn't be happy unless it was Frank Sinatra up there.

Although I didn't care for it either

hmmm, serena williams was crip walking, never heard of that.  Thanks for the insight SERK now I gotta get my CRIP walking on  LOL

One song I think was at the end NOT LIKE US I could almost understand some of the words.  Did not get any of the messages he was trying to do, but not likely many of us either did.

Face it, we are OLDER and not as HIP as this younger crowd, I guess?

My 27 year old daughter said he did a good job at halftime and sorta listens to some of his music, but I surely did not raise her that way.... Roll Eyes

To me, it’s pretty apparent the NFL is catering to the demographic that they see as their greatest income potential.  That may make sense from a business point of view.  But it also provides potential to drive other fans away.

IMHO they're figuring "other fans" are either so addicted to their product they'll stick around no matter what they do, or they're so old, they'll die off soon and no longer be a concern...

No Jess, but my lady love didn't want to turn down the sound so I'd catch bits of it as I walked through the room. Not sure what she got out of it, a headache maybe. I watched bits of the game as well, none of the first half and only small parts of the second half...really had little interest in the game.

I didn't see but parts of it myself John.  When I saw Philly was up large, I kept checking back to see if KC came back and the game would get interesting.  They didn't.  Caught the highlights.  Missed the halftime.

If I ever want to see the whole game, it will be rebroadcast 50 times in the next few months anyway.

what is starting to turn me off to NFL viewing on TV is I do not pay extra for pay per view programming and if not on basic satellite channels or local channels,  I will NOT be paying extra to subscribe to certain channels just to watch a stupid football game.  Missed a few games this way this year, their loss

The only good part of the show was the 86 Buick Grand National on stage. One of the write-ups said it was a '87 because that is a special year for the 'performer'.  I believe that they were wrong, it is really an '86.

As for the sound, you cannot beat the 'mute' biutton'!

What happened to all the "I won't watch pro football." people?

I didn't watch the game even though I was a Chief's fan years ago. I haven't watched much college ball the last couple years either. I  didn't even realize the Nat. Championship game had already been played. Who won? Who cares?

sadly it is coming that way for me as well in terms of most sports watching.  I do see though now some high school games in my small town are now on youtube LIVE and watched a game few nights ago our girls high school team won the state of WI smallest division last year (once in  lifetime achievement) but they did of course loose this game 1st loss of this new year to another local team by 2 points.  Last year they beat for state a small, rich private catholic school who am sure stacks the team by recruitment.   Seems to me there is always a private pay rich Catholic school in state of WI championship games or at least in the top 4 semi finals.  I think recruitment to attend these private schools, if one can afford high school private pay tuition, is not exactly the fairest way to do the high school games for state championships, but it is what it is.
