 tickedoff tickedoff tickedoff

We have more years than not of no snow at all, or occasional flurries, or gone in 2 hours.

The ground is warm enough to melt some snow but not a lot of it.

The 2-stroke gas is replenished, the blower and snowthrower are running well, the shovels are laid out (my brand new light aluminum coal shovel is a little bent up from the last big one).

Let the fun begin.   crazy2

No, I am not entertained.

So far, the fluffy wet stuff is sticking to all the trees, scape and yards, but all streets and walks remain clear (and wet).

Only 10 more hours to go.

Ross, does that tractor have a plow or a great big rotary blower?

By sundown, it's a complete blanket of white everywhere, and 7 hours more coming. ******************************************************************************

At least it's 33*.

yeah 6" of heavy wet snow here ..
My old Yella quad did it's to plow it..
   But couldn't scrape the pavement..
No matter how many times I tried..
My next-door neighbor Hit my drive way with his heavy plow.
  That helped a lot

0800 (when you can start making noise), me and the snowblower have a date for hours.

It's a wet snow, and my 5 horse doesn't do well in that, so earlier is better than letting it warm up any more, and rain starts this afternoon.

The plows were out last night, and like clockwork, my driveway is nicely piled up with ice (again).  Only the shovel works with that.

My niece in Las Vegas tells me to hire some local boys to do the work.  I told her I've seen no local boys doing any work at at all for 25 years or so.  They're real good with cell phones though.

finally, southern WI will get 5 or so inches of snow, biggest and near almost ONLY decent snowfall of the year.  VERY odd to ONLY get 1-2 snowfalls by Feb here even in southern WI.  My old 91 non ethanol gas in my 1974 sears homelite need to burn some of that up tonight when home from work 7 p.m.

It's 42 here in The Republic, and we've gotten ~2 inches of rain in the last 24 hours....

Sucks, but I'll take the rain over that stuff ya'll are dealing with!

2 inches so far (that started about 330 AM), and we're expecting another 2-4 inches before it quits.
THEN, the Temperature outside is a BRISK 16F (real temp, colder with windchill).

I might start snowblowing around noon. Fortunately - I have no need to go anywhere (yet).

We have had 4 days without snow.  Been great.  But the 20" of the flats have not melted because we have had some low temps.  It was a -9 this morning.  More snow is slated to come in tonight and tomorrow.  Running out of places to shovel to.  Neighborhood roads are a mess and have narrowed to the point that two vehicles can't pass.   So, those to east of get ready for another round of snow.

have not had that 'running out of places to shovel to'  in decades and to be honest do NOT miss it.  One year my neighbor put a white flag surrendering to the 7ft tall snowbank we were attempting to pile it up on along the driveway.   surely do not want that again was fine in my 20's but not so much in my 50's.

Well, it has started doing it again here as was promised by weather folks.  An additional 3-4 inches has fallen.  But this time there is a breeze, of course it will be in our faces as we throw the new snow over the berm beside the driveway.

Last week the local schools were closed due to the snows.  There is a two hour delay this morning.  There was a gymnasium in Medford (80 miles to the west of us) which had its roof collapse due to the snow there.  Medford valley normally only get an inch or less of snow during the winter.  Different winter this year.  Folks who grew up here and are near my age say we haven't had winter like this in 30 years.

And this storm will leave us tomorrow and head east.  Enjoy.

I busted my ass yesterday and got pretty well shoveled/blown out.

Except the big pile on my 8.5 foot van roof.  I'm not getting on an 8 foot stepladder and shoving it off, esp on my clean driveway.  So I'll be taking a short drive around the neighborhood and donating it to others.

EDIT:

First, nearly 20 hours of rain.  The next day, a big snowfall blanket everywhere.  Then a day of digging out.  Today, it's a beautiful sunny 50, and except for the big mud hole, most of the snow is already melting away, my yard is clear, and my gutters (piped away from the house) are pouring snow melt water off the roof.

The last big blizzard was a lot more snow, and with freezing temps, it took weeks to melt off.

I am now amused.

There’s a reason that I moved south away from Lake Erie. I’ll give you one guess as to why.

fun times,  another 3-6 inches tonight into tomorrow, got our 2nd snowfall though ONLY 2 days ago around 5 inches so entire winter is way behind on snowfall and farmers, etc. need the moisture in the ground.  Our sump pump during winter is usually somewhat low, but this year barely any water in the crock.    We not be home this weekend either to shovel on saturday, oh well., it will melt eventually right?  Next week though COLD snap single digits for highs and lows.
