I’ve got it bad. Not being in the workforce, I don’t have to get out in all this nastiness but now I’m thinking I need a job. Having had the flu twice this year already has caused me to be much more cautious about being out for no good reason. The scuttlebutt is next week moderate temps will return. I think I can hold out for four more days!

You and me both John.  I don't ever want to work for wages again, but I crave outdoor activity, not indoor chair warming.  But with few exceptions, it's been cold, wet, muddy and nasty outside.  I did get out to blow off our light fluffy snow today with the Stihl 600, but it was low 20s and no entertainment at all.

My favorite show (Motortrend TV) Roadworthy Rescues has been on all day, so there's that.

Warmer weather is supposed to be days away.

Living alone, I have not had the flu or even one cold or virus going on 15 years (a small miracle), and I do go to stores and wander around from time to time.  I also put in one hour on the treadmill daily (at 2.5mph).

can't wait to not be going out to work for wages, so wish was here already.  One thing learning from my Dad who had to retire at age 55, my age, due to health/spinal cord issues, is he always said he wanted to travel after not working, but he never really did the last 20 years or so of his life.  Be nice to actually go somewhere for more than 3-4 days at a time and not worry about returning to work.

With my wife's (and mine) current job situations not the greatest and with Trump proposing retirement age 70,  just so wish I was a tad bit older for once.  Will see how it goes, but sure be nice to not do the daily grind anymore.  My wife has it worse than me but neither are great situations to be in.  Unlike the wife who near daily asks me if she can QUIT, I have not done that yet, at least not DAILY...  Surely sucks when our jobs are dependent on others doing their jobs correctly and those others are either NOT there calling in sick WAY too often, or are to incompetent or do NOT care enough to do their jobs correctly nor on a timely basis in the first place.

speaking of jobs,  I was pumping gas, do weekly, at local COSTCO and asked the gas pump attendant enjoys working at COSTCO since the starting wages now are 20 bucks per hour.  He said he loves it working part time at Costco last 3 years enjoys it, not bad pay, easy work, and much to my surprise he said even working part time, he gets insurance benefits as well since he appeared to not be age 65 yet.  So, if a costco is in your area, maybe consider asking if any job openings for part time work?

been thinking of that myself at Costco is 1/2 the drive and if less headaches, not much less in pay than what I am making now?

I stay to busy in retirement to just lay around.  I have a 50x50 garden that keeps me busy and in about as good a physical shape as a 74 yr old can be.  Yard work and honey do's take up a lot of time too.  And then....there is always time to ride the Valk.

We set a new record for Low this morning -6 / -7 .

Yes , I'm getting cabin fever as well  - and inspite of my spouse being an excellent cook, I (and her) are ready for someone else's cooking. I went outside yesterday just enough to clear the snow off the driveway / cars . then started the 2 cars we have here.

Just to the north of us, we have a neighbor that has two short haired pitties, that like to come up (since I put a fence up to keep them in their yard) and bark at me (and other things), even in the cold we had yesterday. I think they were  being stupid yesterday, and they irritate me with their barking.

I lived with chronic barking dogs next door for a number of years.  Aside from calling animal control and the police 50 times (after trying to be nice about it for the first year), I got one of those air horns that would raise the dead, and that would make them run under the deck and be quiet for awhile (and let the owners know they were being assholes again, since it's always the owners fault).

The day those people got kicked out for foreclosure was one of happiest in my entire life.

Scooper: Do you speak Pit?!? I do  cooldude they were not being stupid, they were telling you “ it’s minus 7 & we have no fur!!! Let us in!  angel
Maybe you can re-home us away from the idiots that have no clue about responsibilities of pet ownership! “

My Buddy’s gone now, but until the end, he’d yell at me on the stairs -  “Mom, here comes Dad, watch out!!”  He had no fur, was not stupid, but very funny!  angel He’d go out for 2minutes & right back in - good boy! Oblivious to neighbors :      cooldude

My fever broke!!! First ride of 2025 for me today in 66 degree sunshine. Fresh T6 and filter and the bike was shifting like butter. I needed a small bottle of dot4 to top off the rear brake reservoir so I picked that up while I was at it running around. I’m happy to report I didn’t feel rusty in the saddle at all and I’m pretty sure my last ride was in October of last year. Some more miles are on schedule for tomorrow. Wish I had time to hit the road and head down towards Clinton Tennessee as Joe says he’s going to get a bike out since he hasn’t been in the saddle since his Christmas/New Year’s ride.
