Looking like substantial rain coming this week to wash away all the sodium on the roads up here in the North East.
Most likely the road bosses will find a way to spread more metal eating products after, but one can hope.

same rain here in the midwest next 2 days, a good thing. Our water table is VERY low. My sump pump inside my house basement crock only has 2-3 inches of water on the bottom. Sure hope my sump pump runs since expecting a few inches of rain in next 2 days should bring that water table back up some I hope....
Then, after the heavy rains, next week looks to be in 60's a few days which is unheard of early March in WI.
Only glad had my snow tires on my car 2-3 days all winter long needing them or at least helping some in the 2-3 snowfalls we got all winter long is all.

Crazy winter here in Kentucky. Out on the bike some last meek, 22 degrees this morning. When it hasn’t been snowing this year, it’s been the monsoon season! There has been significant flooding all around me where people live in the valleys. My house is in one of the highest spots in Madison county and drainage is great but the soil is saturated and has been for weeks. If and when we have a week of warm weather, I’ll probably need a bush hog to mow the grass. But, I’m confident that Spring is coming and I’ll try not to curse the heat.  |

We sort of had a taste of spring last week. Got up about 10 degrees over the normal 40 degrees for several days. This year has been a different one. We had some snow early in December, maybe 10" total or less, then the end of December it started raining. Rain for couple weeks almost every day. Seems we got hit by continuous "Pineapple Express". First of February it turned cold, and the snows came and came. We ended up having around 40" of white stuff, lots of piles of snow around the area. No place to put the new stuff. Then it stopped, sun came out and slowly the 30" snowpack has gone. Except for a few shaded areas. According to experts we had the most snow to hit our area since the record 73" back in '93.
Roads are good and since OR doesn't use salts on the roads, they are good to rides. (should say they do use it on I-5 over the passes but not on local highways or town roads). Unfortunately, I haven't got to taste the wind since first of December. Left knee has had enough of the abuse that it can take. Go in for a new one tomorrow morning. Maybe by end of April I can sneak out for a ride if Valk will start.

I keep getting a day or two of riding, and working on the bikes and yard here and there, and then back in the house when it's freezing. I want to turn my outdoor water back on again, but not quite yet. Back to warm in the next few days, but will the cold come back? Usual Spring fun.  |

Oleman, good luck on the knee and hope you have a speedy recovery. I wish the towns and cities here would stop using salt and liquid sodium, but they feel they have to cater to the winy a$$ed jerks that can't drive in winter.  |

If I start smelling cheese curds while driving, I will be in heaven!  Knee surgery if replacement will more than likely take longer than only 1 month of recovery before hoping on the cycles. My replaced hips I know, and heard knee surgery takes longer, been over 2 months now and even now might be iffy to cycle ride, but probably could do it now barely. At least I think I can hop over the seat now vs. struggling to lift my leg up and over the seat prior to surgery past 3 years. |

Bill, you know I make my riding $$$ plowing the white stuff and brining the roads, but I’m with you, hope it’s over, PMS is getting to me…. Craig ha, yeah, I do realize that, so my hope is for snow for you to plow and then sand to spread. That way you can get overtime cleaning up the sand in the spring, which, by the way, may not be taxed. It a good plan. |

Our skunks must be crazy, because they have been littering the highways all winter long here in Central Kentucky. Its about 200 mi. straight north of the Ohio river here thus takes a little longer to warm up. Kentucky weather is a bit different. Sometimes Indiana weather and other times more Tennesee like though winter was shared as far south as Gulf Shores AL.  We kinda set in between Lake Michigan (lake effect) weather and warmer temps just south of us. In the summer time we can see 2 different fronts coming together all the time. No tornadoes in 36 yrs. of living here but we do have a breeze most the time. Thats the reason that we have windmills in our back yard.  |

Stepped into the house early evening and heard a Oriole singing across the field. As long as I can remember even as a child, it was the 1st. sound of spring. Still no "smelly's".

man, was so tempted to attempt to get my legs over the cycle seat and put battery in Valk and fire it up high 61 today but 30 mph winds and still some runoff on the roads. Saw 4 or so cycles out today on the road 1st time since November.....
