Aww, c'mon Michael... where's the low mounted footage? Particularly... when the chrome is getting ground off in the corners?

Now wait a minute, I just said I'd mount it, never said I'd show anybody the footage! Actually, I wanted to mix the two cameras but my ability got in the way of my intentions. This happens a lot. Still trying to figure out how to change file extensions so they're compatible. And yeah, I realize that I spent too much time next to that big rig but I just needed to admire the beautiful tire de-lamination that the driver was about to experience. (humor here)

Nice.... refreshing change of view from our snow covered roads/surroundings here. Bike sounds good too. Really gets me wanting to go for a ride. I also would be interested in seeing the lower view cam..... and about 3:05 there was a yellow and white car.... wondering what that was.
Thanks for sharing....

Hey Michael, I'm glad to see that you got your camera situation worked out. The film looks good. Now I need you to take a trip out toward Bagdad, and the vulture mine road so I can show my wife what she missed on the New Years Day ride.
You guys are extreemly lucky having those great roads so close. The traffic in town sucks, but head out of town and within 30-40 minutes you are basicly all alone on some of the nicest roads in the country! The last ride I took down there I realized that there were only 12- 14 vehicles in the other lane in about 40 miles of mountain roads, and I only had to pass 2, other than that it was all alone on a machine that was made for your area.
I hope to see you again next year, thanks again for the hospitality.
Jim

I hooked my little camera to the saddlebag rails on the BrasstownBald ride last year and pointed it backwards, got a lot of pictures like this: I don't know what Mike's postit notes are for, but there's some things you don't want to drive off and forget... -Mike

Right in answer to your comment above download a free programme called Format Factory from here. It will convert your video format to any other format that you want, it also repairs damaged video files. It works really well, I use it all the time. Hope it helps.

Ok, lemme see here! Alph-the 666 highway is now 191 and I've done it twice so far. Great technicals and views from Safford to Springerville! A bunch of us took Lil Bit on a ride to Tortilla Flats last August. Since she's from Co., she was melting. We all pretended that it wasn't too hot for us---- she didn't buy it! Wingman-Still playin the guitar! After picking up the acoustic at Wallies house a few Novembers ago and finding it impossible to play a Bert Jansch piece, I've been shamed into woodshedin! Chops are back, tune sounds much better now!! Art- I enjoy that ride from the valley floor to the evergreens approaching Prescott. 20 to 30 degrees cooler in the summer!! BF-The Yellow Cards were a gift from friends. At Inzane 9, oZ said he'd look into getting a bunch made up to sell. Guess he's still looking into it. Haven't had to throw any yet! Rikb-Didn't eat pie, didn't see pie, didn't lunch at Rock Springs, just rode. Riding makes me happy, eating makes me fat! Oops, too late! Colin-Thanks for the format program. Still can't seem to convert .mpg4 to .avi and use them in my Flip vid software. Get it eventually I figure. Also doesn't seem to clear up my complexion in .jpg either! Well, gotta stop now, things are getting all blurry, swirling around my br--- wait-- ah, just a 60's flashback, I'll be better soon.

Lemme see... A Strat (clone?) I just can't make out Fender on the head stock. A Takamine acoustic, that might be a mahogany soundboard, my son has one in cedar. A well worn Blonde Telecaster and something I don't recognize... It looks like you are back at it! I'm up to 3 now, I have an old Yamaha FG 335 and a 69 Reissue Thinline Telecaster. I recently got a Taylor 814 and now I have to get serious about playing or Diane will beat me to death for spending all that money on firewood! Glad you are playing.. I don't know what's going on with me, but I've been at it hard for nearly a year! I wouldn't call what I'm playing "chops" exactly, but it ain't chopped liver either!

I have a couple of go-pro cameras and have done the same, what editing software did you use to put it together? I am really struggling to find a piece of software that works well and is easy to use.
Thanks.

The Strat is a Squire 3/4 neck I bought for little $$'s and used on gigs for the last 2-3 years I did it for a living. Only reason I wanted that one is that it was teeny and easy to cart around. Played pretty well all in all. The last one is a Steinberger clone by Hohner. It can sound like a strat,Gibson or tele w/ the right amp. My baby is the '64(I think, gotta look again) Tele that I played for about 30 or so years. Had the neck re-done when I got to Phoenix by a road worn, true pro guitar tech. Plays like "the ringin a bell".

There's a link back in this post from Colin for "Format Factory" click on the word,"here". That said, I'm using as a primary shooter the 'Flip ultra HD' video camera because of it's superior audio and vid qualities. Even converting the GoPro footage to the Flip file extension doesn't allow me to mix the cameras output to make a vid w/ both cameras. I think it's the proprietary software that Flip uses that's screwing me up altho Flip says it utilizes converted .avi to mpg4 stuff. Can't seem to make Flip software cooperate! The software that's with the Flip for tacking together clips is very easy to use. I just putter here so it's good enough for me! I'm afraid that the Flip isn't road tough enough to last very long. Even the minor vibrations the Valk has seems to mess w/ the video feed, bump makes the picture elongate for a moment like an old picture tube tv when you would shut it off. We'll just see. Anybody that has some insight on this prob. please post.

I agree with you- your Flip is pretty impressive with its quality imagery. We didn't get to see the GoPro you mounted on the side. How do you think it compares to your Flip? GoPro has their new HD out now and I've been thinking about getting one, but I'm not sure it looks as nice as what you did with your Flip.

I have the old three megapixel gopro... my videos aren't HD even straight out of the box, so naturally none of my edited uploaded videos are "the best you ever saw", but when I first started, they were awful, now they're not so bad... I edit with Window Movie Maker, avi goes in wmv comes out, the main "quality preserver" is the steps you take when mashing the save button after you get done editing: Finish Movie->Save to my computer->whatever->other settings->High Quality Video (Small) results in usable video that is small enough to upload to youtube... might be pretty good if you start out with more than three megapixels in the first place...
