For a ride this afternoon, maybe close to 100 miles, making a big circle heading North to Lexington then swinging south thru Nicholasville and continuing south to the small town of Lancaster where it was time to head in a northeasterly direction back home. I was in too much traffic for most of the ride but I wasn’t in a hurry to get anywhere so it wasn’t that big of a distraction. I had forgotten about all the rain we have had in the last two weeks, but I was reminded in the last 25 miles on the least traveled roads of my excursion that lots of people still have gravel driveways. But it seems most of the washed out gravel had already been beaten into submission by regular traffic that continues on for those still in the workforce. I still gave curves their due respect until I got home.

The cycle of rain is still continuing so I’ll still have to pick my times for a local scoot about. It’s got to dry out sometime, right?

John, I got the grass mowed early so I could get a half day ride in before the predicted 3 day rain started this evening.

Mowed the front and back, edged, blew, cleaned the gear.

Wiped off, suited up (nippy), and took off.  An hour out, it started raining early.... sumbitch weather guessers lied.  I headed for home.  Got wet off and on, but not soaked.

Maybe Sunday will be dry.   I really prefer this cool weather before the hot, muggy and buggy settles in here, soon.

The new Metzler CruiseTec front is great and grippy (unlike the slippery beater ME888 that just came off).

Good news on the CruiseTec.  That will be my new tire going forward.  I have an ME888 on now and it is an OK tire.

Too bad about the rain but a good test for the front tire I imagine. According to the digital readout on the Wing it recorded a temp of 72 while I was out but didn’t always feel like that when the sun went behind a cloud. The bugs were happy with the temperature, at least until they collided with the windshield. I need more saddle time as I am a little rusty myself after a long winter.

I get that needing more saddle time - I took the bike to the shop for a going over, and I didn't have the confidence I had last spring. I'm setting a goal to get a ride in at least once a week after I get it back.

The CruiseTec has replaced the ME888 (at least in our size).

Looking at them, you can hardly tell the difference in tread and profile.

It's better than OK to me, it's the best front available as far as I'm concerned.

They do not last as long as some others, but those harder compounds reduce grip (in the cranking and banking; straight and level makes no difference).
