In the process of removing the engine on the trike, the alternator kinda sticks out and adds to the difficulty. Once all the mounting bolts are all loose, you're able to move the motor around a bit which gives great access to the alternator. It slips right out leaving only the wiring to unhook from it, which brings me to the subject line. When you have to remove the alternator for maintenance and it's normally mounted in place and the bolts are removed, you still have the problem of disconnecting the wiring. Like most of us, I don't have baby size hands with 14" long fingers. Even if the unit is removed enough to turn it to gain access to the wires, it's a major PITA. I got to wondering...has anyone ever lengthened the wire harness to the alternator and added a simple connector so the harness so you don't have to disconnect it from the alternator? I'm debating that mod before installing the Wing motor, if I do it I'll give details. The Valk motor is loose but need to address the starter, it's in the way due to sticking waaay out in back so will probably remove the bolts & starter, pull the motor and then disconnect the starter. If anyone has suggestions on starter removal I'm all ears...or eyes.

I think it was JeffC that found heating the engine by running it allowed the starter bolt to release easier, but that probably won't help with the motor out Roll Eyes

I did snap one years ago and never fixed it, lucky there's three and never a problem with just two working.

Figuring out how to heat the thread part of those bolts without damaging or discoloring the motor case will be a challenge.

Penetration spray, hit the head with a punch, slight tighten, work back and forth, is all I got for suggestion.
