Every once in a great while when I get the go ahead form an intersection I will discover that I failed to downshift at the stop.  It isn't a big deal.  I can choose to quickly downshift or I can just pull away from the stop in the higher gear.  Even starting off in third I can still come off the line as quickly as most of the cages around me.

It happened last evening.  I started off in the gear in which I had stopped.  I honestly don't know whether it was third or fourth.  I did slip the clutch a bit.   Smiley

I agree and as I got older, I tend to forget to ensure that the bike is in First gear after a full stop.

Happens more often on the Goldwing.  And even with the trailer, it still gets off the line with comparative ease. But, I general mentally kick myself in the behind and down shift.  I have done it only once in third gear this year (and yes I do remember).

Actually I thought I was one of the few that was so impacted.  Glad to hear I am not alone...  cooldude

I do it once in a while, but I try not to.  It usually happens in traffic more than cruising around mostly alone.  I generally slow roll into all stops so cars behind me have to slow roll too, but not in 1st.  I'm not a fan of following cars coming in fast behind me at stops.

Why people waste gas and then brakes running up fast to red lights is beyond me.  They aren't going to scare it to turn green faster.   crazy2

I'm usually gentle on the throttle from a stop, and in a higher gear, you can stall.

You can tell right away from the sound (bog), so you goose up the gas a bit, and ease the clutch out, and it's all good.

What is even more irritating is going into neutral instead of first at a stop (and not seeing the green light in the sun, or just not looking).  You gas up to go, lift your feet (or foot), and go nowhere, and get a foot back down quickly before you fall over.   Grin

About as much fun as forgetting to put your manual transmission car into 1st while waiting for the green light....

I ease into stops also thus warning the traffic behind me with the Back Off modulator in advance. Been working like a charm. Haven't had issue since install 10 yrs. ago. Yep I watch my "back 6" constantly.

Not a bad habit to have, no matter what you drive.

My Former  Cry I/S had the L E D tail and brake light conversion and also mounted the tail light with LEDs from a standard. That low end grunt came in handy on more than one P G R Mission. Roll ons with certain other makes of M/Cs from say 30 or 35 M P H in 5th were fun!  cooldude Th Looks on their faces to quote a credit card company were "Priceless"!  Roll Eyes Course those certain other makes could NOT stay in 5th at mid 30s speed. RIDE SAFE.
