Modified Interstate Rear Speaker Pods

I’m working on a new top piece for the interstate rear speaker pods to hopefully allow fitting 5.25” or 6.5”speakers for my interstate and thought I’d see if there’s any interest in them if it works out.  They’ll be 3D printed out of either ABS, PETG or ASA so it can withstand UV. If I can get my hands on a 3D scanner I’ll probably remake the complete pod assembly.

Yeah I’d definitely be interested. Once you’ve done the rears, some brackets for the front speakers would be great too. I managed to get 6.5” in my fairing, but it was quite the job.

I got 5.25 speakers to fit.  I couldn't see anyway to get 6.5 to fit without cutting up stuff.

BTW, a general question about speakers.
What is most likely to cause static?
I have two J&M handlebar speakers connected to a Garmin 590 navkit and media player.
Each speaker has a preamplifier and the set comes with a noise suppressor.
The wiring is soldered at various places and the set intermittently produces static.
Thought I'd ask the question here and look for the obvious before taking everything apart.

Until I get a 3D scanner, I decided to go a different route.  I got some Cicada CH65.2 speakers and I've designed some pods to mount to the engine guard to hold them.  I've got a SounDigital EVOX2 1200.4 4 Ohm amp that'll put 300W into the speakers since I got the 2 Ohm model and an HKI Mini DSP to crossover the mids and horns separately. 

I mounted the amp in my tour pack with a custom designed cover I printed to hold the amp in place and keep anything else in there from contacting any of the wiring.  I still need to print the pods and hook up the speakers.  I'll post some pics when I get everything done, which I hope will be in the next couple of days.  I've got a couple of other print jobs that are priority over the speaker pods.

Well, I ended up making a plate for the fairing to let me mount 5.25" speakers easily.  It's cut from acrylic right now.  Eventually I'm going to model it for 3D printing and post it where anyone that wants them can make them or have them made.  I used DS18 PRO-FR5NEO speakers with the HKI Mini DSP I already had and got the SoundStream Picasso Nano PN4.5000DX amplifier.  I totally cut the OEM system out of the equation using a DS18 RKS-BT Bluetooth receiver as an input to the amp.  The setup sounds really good and playing music from my phone, half volume is all me or my wife can stand.

I got the speakers for $120 each (they're sold separately)  The Amp was $220 and the receiver was $90, but I'm returning it.  I can't STAND the notifications "Bluetooth Mode" then "Device Connected" at the system's MAX volume.  Neighbors 4 houses down hear it connect unfortunately.  I already had the HKI Mini DSP, but they're $300.  I haven't gotten my mic yet so I can use an RTA to tune it better.  If anyone decides to go with the same components, I'm always happy to help with setting it up.
