Gilligan and Navigator - Wherever we ended up

Southwest Indiana

« on: February 21, 2010, 06:17:44 AM »

Day 13 – 6/30/09 (Part 1) --- 121 miles (Banff, Alberta to the Columbia Icefield Center via the Icefields Parkway)
50 at 7 AM --- 60 in the evening

We started at 8:15 and got gas in Lake Louise.  Then we got on the Icefields Parkway.  Our entire trip was planned around this part of the ride, because Navigator had always wanted to see the Icefields and the glaciers.  We stopped at Bow Lake and saw the Crowfoot Glacier, which is part of the Wapta Icefield.  Then we rode to a second stop at Bow Lake and viewed the Bow Glacier and Falls.

Here is a link to a map of the Icefields Parkway.  This part of the trip goes from the southern entrance to kilometer marker 37.

You are fortunate to have this road in your "backyard."  I am jealous.  I also wish that we could have shared some riding time in your "neighborhood."

Ride Safe, Friend.
