The episode of Undercover Boss was shot in the new plant. I have been with this project since we dug the hole in the ground. I had the electrical end of the project from the 4000 amp service down to the plc controls that operate the machinery. After the mechanical engineer was fired I set the last two donut lines in place. Ironic that my BKU (Busted Knuckle University) is no longer good enough and I am being replaced with a degreed engineer making $15,000 more than me and I am supposed to teach him. Funny how that now I handed in my retirement papers they want me to stay on for more money. Goody

I know what you mean I went through a similar thing. I had to train some people from our China plant and a while after that they gave me my walking papers. My job went to China. With the neo generation they have no concept of talent, experience value that makes efficiency. Rather then admitting there mistake, they live with it and work with losses and maybe questionable quality. People think that piece of paper (degree) is magic and means that you are intelligent, talent and can back you mouth. Its too bad, you have allot of talented willing people out there sitting on there hands. The government rather cut off the American people and send our taxes over seas for there own personal politics. Like they say GO GREEN : the green is the color of money, which we pay more and get less.

Hey Goody.... sorry to hear of this. It is par for the course. If you don't need the job, and want to retire, tell them to piss up a rope. (loyalty is a two-way street) (but make no decisions in anger)
I am doing this very thing, a few years short of my full thirty. Come 31 March, I hope to never work again.... except MAYBE something I actually enjoy doing... which will be a first.

Jess I am going on full disability. I too am going to do something I have wanted to do for a long time and thats going fully into my woodcarving business with my wife. I have not made the decision in anger this has been coming on for a while just a little bitter ( missed 2 Inzanes and they said I could get vacaiton for Frisco - I went anyway) I have started a rumor in the plant. When the buzz goes around the plant that someone left a bag of crap on the VP's desk you know its my last day! Put up with crap for 45 years from industry, I'm giving a little back on my last day. Already ordered the fake stuff off ebay. Fudgie, I was in at 3:am but had to stay in the background incase something went wrong.

Don't jeopardize anything that can be changed by management (like a disability retirement). Of course you know this already. I have to remind myself of this from time to time. I'm down near Ft. Belvoir; you're just an hour or so North of me, I think. Come good weather, maybe a couple of old retirees can get together and swap stories sometime. Jess

the thing about teaching a new person is not letting them know the easy stuff.
two of my brothers have college degrees, one is a school teacher, about as smart as a rock, the other has a machanical and electrical engineering degree, and reminds me all the time that "he's smarter then me". funny thing is, he still has a mortgage, and i don't. my house is about 1000 square feet bigger then his.
there's something to be said about learning things on the job.

Goody, Don't put the crap on his desk where he can find it!
Put it in a drawer or closet where it will stink for weeks before he finds it!
Does he have a golf bag?
Under the seat of that fancy company car?
Good luck on your retirement.

We use those annoy-a-trons. Great results in the office. I just replace the batteries when needed, let them do thier work.. We plant them in fans, vents, cubicle walls, etc.

I'm former military (in a week) and going to school for Engineering. There's a lot of guys running around with advanced engineering degrees I wouldn't let change my oil without supervision.
