When you say it has the pods, do you mean it has the pods, with the light kid installed and you're wondering what bulbs to put in them? Or do you mean it has the pods, and you wish to add the lights to the pods without the fixtures already being there?

If the lighting setup isn't already in there, the kit to add them is (or at least when I last checked a few years ago) unobtanium. To the point when I had Interstates I gave up and just added LED lights external to the pods...

If you've got good fabricating skills could probably work something out of course, but I don't think the kid to just put 'em in there is around anymore.

(Someone with more recent experience on lighting on an Interstate please feel free to correct me if the situation has changed of course.)

Correct.  I believe I bought one of the last kits about 8-9 years ago.  I think it was $500??.  And it was an excellent put together kit with: the two silicone rubber outside black surround pieces, the two brackets that hold the light and attach to the machine, two wire harnesses, and of course two light assembly pieces.  One had to cut the hole in the pods, kind of a nervous procedure.  The original option from the factory had a switch on the left pod where one could turn the lights on or off.  That is the only way I have determined one can tell if it is the aftermarket kit or the factory option.  With the aftermarket kit the pod lights are wired in and on all the time.

And these lights add some illumination at night but I added them for more visibility during the day.  The triangle look of the lights make the bike much more visible during the day.

I have since then even added another LED set.  Paranoid??  Perhaps.  But if you have ever had someone pull out in front of you you will understand my paranoia.

01 reverse black and red -   a beautiful machine

There are several LED bulbs you can use if your bike currently has the pod light installed
and the bulbs either die or are no longer bright as you wish

My 01 has the pod lights from prior owner.  I had to replace my switch in the left pod as it developed a short which killed my battery about a year ago

Also I have a kury voltmeter wired in the right pod

LED has advantage of not using as much power off the alternator and if the alternator ever dies you
have given yourself some range before the bike dies  I keep a small charger in the saddlebag as once when my alternator did die which I noticed as I got gas on the way home from a long ride.

The kury uses different color lights  2 greens is proper operation  I saw yellow light when I looked down and knew what was coming.

So I took out the headlights fuse and further down the road I stopped at a gas station and in an hour I had enough charge to make it home the last dozen or so miles
Of course actually changing the alternator SUCKS

TheBeast  has  always  had  the Honda fog lights since  1999 and they  have always had a switch
On  the  left side pod. Now  I have  had  replaced  that  a few  times over the years.
Neve had an issue finding one that would fit the hole..From a real auto parts store.

Pia has some  nice lights , and  what I have  on TheBlack I have always liked.
I think they are a tractor light set up.. I don't remember .

TY for the replies guys, used to getting notifications on replies but maybe i don't have that turned on here

anyway, no, there are no lights in the pods at present so looking for whole shebang - but, have done plenty of fab'ing on different things over the years so if I have to start building custom will do that too - but not until i exhaust used part sources as I would prefer stock'ish Smiley

Well for cryin out loud - I was today years old when I discovered that not all IS pods have removable blockouts that can be removed for light install - I always thought they were like later GW pods where you could cut put the blankoff and carry on - guess my entire question is moot now, but thanks for the efforts! lol - Will go the standard aftermarket driving light route

I promise, no more questions till I get her in the driveway  Grin  (bad rob)

All of the pods i have seen have am outline on the inside showing where to cut where the hole.  There used to be some printable instructions that had paper templates.  I think they were on the valkyrienorway.com site.

Took some digging with The Internet Archive, but found the file on Valkyrie Norway site, downloaded it, and put it on Serk.net for archival purposes:

You are unlikely to ever find pod lights for an interstate except maybe used on ebay.  On top of that, cutting those old brittle pods for a light install is risky business and you may ruin them easily.

I would not waste my time.

Do some measuring and get some small aftermarket and mount where you want them.

One of my interstates came with small Motolights  (30 watt) on front brake caliper mounts (to be seen, not to see), and small bright PIAAS (70 watt, to see) up on the fork wings below the fairing.  I never run them at all (unless I blow a faring light)(and I never ride at night anymore).  Both are wired to a switchbox mounted on top one of the hydraulic reservoirs on the handlebars.

Motolights, caliper mount.

03 to 05 Honda Pilot Fog Lights are the replacement housing for the Honda Valkyrie OEM Fog Lights.  Trout Dude has the setup, OEM Honda Fog Light Kit New In The Box, might not ever see one again.
