is all I will run in my 2 Valks (unless traveling with no choice).

I'm just back from my quarterly run (100 mi round trip) to buy 40 gallons from the closest gas station that has it.  The communists in NoVA where I live won't allow it to be sold, I suppose to save the planet.   crazy2

I have 33 carburetors at my house (12 on 2 Valks) I only run non ethanol in (2 stroke and 4 stroke), because I suck at carburetor repair, and never having to do it is even better.  It sits outside in a HOT shed, so it all gets marine grade Stabil, Seafoam and Berrymans B12 too.  Certain equipment gets used often but some doesn't (I try to keep the snow blower drained in warm weather, but...).

I have been staying off I-66 in VA (the quickest way to get the gas) because it gets a quarter million cars on it and is backed up daily, but I took a chance today.  Not too bad, like the Indy 500 with all kinds of big trucks competing.  Grin

I routinely ride my bikes out there to fill up before coming home, but these days in HOT and stormy weather, the rides are often shorter, so I use the supply for the bikes too.

I'm all set for the huge fall Oak tree leaf cleanup chores (all gasoline mechanized work).  I hate that job.   tickedoff

I am curious.  I have considered doing what you do but.....  I have not do so as of yet.

So, I have a couple of questions.

1.  What do you store the gas in (containers??)

2. You store the gas outside but in a covered building (a shed or covered work area), correct?

3.  You add marine grade Stabil, Seafoam and Berrymans B12 to each storage container in conformance with the instructions provide on these additives, correct?

4. What type of container do you store the treated gasoline in, metal, plastic, something else?

5.  What size container do you use for storage/

6.  And last question, do you have an end date associated with the gas so stored, one month, two months, six months, etc.?

Thanks.

Bill I store the gas in mostly 5 gallon plastic gas cans (and I really hate those new no spill, one-hole cans)(they actually sell vents to install in them), and a few smaller ones (2.5, 2 gal).  Outside in a wooden shed (you'd be nuts to keep in in a house, maybe an attached garage).  I use the Stabil at the recommended dose of a half ounce per 5gal can, but I just glug a healthy dose of Seafoam and Berryman's in each gas can (no measuring).  It would save time to dose all your cans at home, but I just line them up at the pump and dose them all there before pumping.  Each time I make a gas run, I just write the date on the shed wall.  That gas should easily be good for a year, but I generally make a run every 3-4 months, and never had any problem.  Obviously, I use less in winter.

And when I'm getting low and make a run, I just dump all that remains in my big truck's 24 gallon tank.  It's fuel injected and doesn't need it, but even fuel injected runs better and gets better mileage with no corn gas.

I keep my gas for the lawn mower in a 5 gal plastic can, in the garage. For my Valk - i use the local Quik Trip (which where I get the non-ethanol for the lawn mower at as well). No fuel additives .

Hello, Jess.  What would you do if ethanol-free gas was not available?  That was me in 2006.  I had no choice, only E10 in everything for 16 years.  Well, you gotta burn something.

The results: Everything was good, as-usual.  Nothing leaked, needed a rebuild, or got gunked up.  I didn't use extra chemicals.  Rode the Valkyrie all over and drove a Model T Ford, too.

These days, if a station that has ethanol-free, that goes into the bike.  If a station has only E10, that's what I get.  I prefer ethanol-free in the Model T as it doesn't go running as often as the bike.

Happy riding.

My farm runs  on 100% gas.. My Ford 3000 tractor  is a  gas  tractor .
Lawn mowers, genny's ,splitter and Valks .
When it was  cheaper  years  ago we  stored  it in  4 /55 gal drums .
Now  I  use  red  5 gal  Gott jugs, 35gal of  it . I don't have  any issues with them.

Will not  use  stabil, had  a  new  bottle  crystilze  at the  bottom. After  that we  said  never  again.

we  only use  Startron You can get it  at Auto zone  and  Rural King .
Also use Berrymans B-12 ( at Wally world)

I put the  startron in the  jugs  and  then add  the  fuel .
This  way I  know  it gets well mixed.

My big truck  is  the  only thing i'll run crap gas  in...

Have  over 8 gas stations  that offer  100% in any direction  35 mile  radius
The  closest is  10 miles

If you run carbureted engines all the time, the corn may do no damage, or it may.

If you leave it sitting in them, it will gum up the carbs.

Ethanol causes deposits to form on engine parts and is corrosive to metal, rubber and plastic.  It also attracts water which leads to rust and corrosion.  It's worse in small engines than larger ones.

Everyone should do what they want.

I want non ethanol bad enough to drive 100 miles for it a few times a year.

Although I have seen a few, I don’t want to ride a drunk motorcycle?

I don’t drink and neither does my Valkyrie.

In our area is still mostly non corn unless you fuel up close to I-65. 2.5 mi. to my local Coop. Yes I do use 10% time to time in warmer weather and road trips but winter months when sitting, the good stuff.
