Hi all. New 98 Standard Valk owner, purchased the bike 3 weeks ago, first time owning a carbureted bike so excuse my ignorance. The previous owner stated carbs were rebuilt 2 years ago but he was rarely ever able to ride it due to health issues, the bike has 8,500 miles on it. I originally posted this on FB group but this seems a better place to post it.
The bike does run and I have been running B12 through it. I am currently replacing intake manifold o-rings now with viton-b ones.
While doing that, Ive noticed in intake #3, #4, and #6 have what looks like a small amount of gas pooled in there by the valve. Is this expected? Or do I have an issue in the carbs. I tried starting the bike with the plugs disconnected as I read to do that, but its such a small amount I guess, that none even squirted out.
Haven't seen any leaking externally. #5 looks dry.
So I left left the intake manifolds off overnight. This morning I felt around the flange/outlets on the carbs where the rubber and manifolds connect. They all feel bone dry, no obvious sign of leaking from carbs. Is this a problem or just normal to have a little fuel there after running the bike. Attached picture.
