It runs like a scalded dog...assuming one can still run. Really peppy, shifts great and smooth. Kind of a feel good moment after the last few months. I've not checked out the reverse function yet, I want to run it as is for some miles just to be sure it's all good mechanically. I'm currently building some new lamp mounts for the pod lights, I bought some new LED's that I found easier to fabricate a new mount rather than continue trying to adapt the OEM type. One is done, second one is about halfway there.

It still blows some oil smoke, apparently from my spraying the cylinders with WD40 to prevent rusting. What has probably happened is the inside of the exhaust has been coated with oily exhaust residue so will take some miles to burn it out. I've not run it long enough to cook it out yet but it's now in the plan for the near future. Next thing I need to do is find a place to store it for the winter, I really need to be able to put both cars in the garage. That white crap is only a couple months away.  Angry

Glad to hear it’s a love and running after all your hard work, too bad about the garage issue.

Can you get a shed built? Or have an enclosed trailer on the property?

Congrats John!  Quite an accomplishment right there.  And thanks about the white stuff reminder.   Undecided

Happy Day, Mr. John.  The real cause to celebrate is putting an old motorcycle together and nothing leaks.
Yup...so far.  I did have quite a fuel leak while trying to install the tank. I have a Pingle petcock and had maybe a half gallon in the tank. In setting the tank in place and moving forward to attach the fuel line, I bumped the Pingle with my hand and before I knew it there was a stream flooding the entire rear of the motor...and my hands, the floor, tools on the floor, etc. I got some hose from my stash and slipped it onto the petcock, the other end in my gas can, then let the tank completely drain. Meanwhile, copius amounts of cat litter on the floor, rags stuffed into various areas of the motor, wipe off the now very clean tools. Was a mess but the payoff followed a couple days later when I took it for a ride. Not far, just in the 'hood in case of problems. So far, so good.  cooldude

Without even looking I'll bet I can figure out what's being offered.  Grin

UPDATE: Dang Ron, I take it all back. I just looked at the pics and now I'm jealous, that's a beautiful setup. Living the apartment life in retirement with no responsibilities does have its limitations, having out-buildings is one. If I lived within short traveling distance I'd take you up on that offer.  Wink

John,
Thanks for the comments, that shop has been a year long process.  I'm still figuring out where stuff should go to make it as user friendly as possible.
Ya know we don't get the weather you get and you're always welcome to come visit.  Wink
