KC and I took his trailer to a neighboring state yesterday so he could buy another Valk in the same color as the one that was recently destroyed. It's a 2000 with roughly 27,000 miles on it.

He still can't walk, can't ride, can't drive and can't work, but at least he'll have a Valk to ride when he can. If all goes right, he should be able to do all of those things in 6 weeks. We'll see. He crutched himself into the trailer while I was indisposed at a truckstop so he could sit on it. Guess he put a lot of trust in me since I was the only one who could test ride it. I'm hoping I didn't let him down. It seems like a good bike although it has a few problems.

The kickstand or frame it's attached to appears to be damaged, so it leans pretty steeply when on the stand. I noticed it took a lot of effort to get it off the stand, but I attributed that to the bike tire on the rear and my budding geezerhood. Guess I should have looked closer. Only after it was in the trailer and I deployed the stand as a "just in case", did I realize it was damaged. Hopefully it's something he can live with, that won't get worse. I'm guessing at some point, it was lashed down for transport while on the stand.

It has two added switches that don't seem to do anything, and smells a bit rich when it's running. But, it has new tires, clean fluids and appears to be in good shape overall. Hopefully it will be a great bike for him.

Excellent!!!   After my crash in Missouri, was hospitalized for about a week, don't remember all that well.   All kinds of busted bones, brain injury, surgeries and metal holding parts together, I found a Valk in Ohio I liked.   I still don't remember the crash.  Had to have another Valkyrie friend in Lexington go along with me to test ride it, those injures would not allow me to ride.   I also got right back on when cleared to ride.   Yep, he's addicted.    cooldude

I do want to again thank Willow and Old2Soon for making the trip to visit me in Columbia. I barely remember the visit.   Also thank those who sent get well messages, I was frankly surprised that anyone even knew who I was.

That's my favorite color.  Tire sizes do affect how much a parked bike leans.  A car tire that is taller than stock and will cause the bike to lean over a little more.

Great picture Mike.   cooldude 2funny

That soft cast/boot will be easier to stick a coat hanger down to scratch the itch than the old plaster casts. Smiley

If you eyeball that kickstand and find it is a little bent, rather than taking it off and hammering on it, you can try to shim the mount to stand more upright.

Thanks my friend, shimming the stand sounds like a good idea.

He just recently got the hard cast off and the stitches removed. The incisions look good so that makes for a lot less worry on my part. When my cast came off years ago, my leg was infected, stank and the bone was visible. I could have chummed for catfish with it. Although he went to a much better doctor and hospital, I've still been "lay awake at night worried". I feel pretty good about it now, thankfully.

Send that picture to Willow (Carl) our moderator who collects pictures for our annual calendar.

He could be our January Man.   2funny   (It's a great looking bike too.)
