Had a nice ride yesterday afternoon until…
Yup, was a couple kms from home and a gal hit me at a yield sign. I had no choose but to come to stop due to the traffic coming thru. Once clear, I started to go and apparently, so did she. “Can we settle this privately? Theres no damage” she says. Even the trunk rode up the front of her car and tore the mounting base out. I said “no damage? I’d rather been on a brand new bike than this one, at lease there would be parts available”!!!
Not sure what insurance will say about this.

Yikes, don’t like that photo.

That’s one thing about the Valk, minimal stock lighting in the rear.

As the saying goes, at least you’re ok and didnt get really plowed into and into a lot of on coming traffic.

Hopefully she’s an honest person, had insurance or will cover the expense out of pocket.

Definitely glad you’re ok. Sorry about the bike, that really sucks.

Don’t let the insurance company set the repair cost. They will likely go by Honda Dealer estimates. Source the parts yourself. Fix it yourself and charge the insurance company 75% of blue book value (or whatever their % is before they total it)

Had the same damage from a fellow rider that thought I was going do a roll thru (never) at a stop sign in IL. Roll Eyes This happened coming back from Moonshine General Store burger shop.

Well his insurance paid $1900 with new parts estimates. No low ball and done in 10 mins. and on their way. Got a set Cobra's in the end. Got the rear fender from a member in AZ. The most problem was getting the paint to match up and after 10 days someone came up with the idea that it was solvent base. Brilliant!

I hate to hear this Terry, but I’m glad you are okay. Hopefully someone on here can assist with locating the necessary parts.

Please tell Lynda I said hello.

Janice, I just passed on your “hello” and I definitely heard a return hello from the back of the house! All good here and we hope the same there.

Now, I found out yesterday, that the insurance system here has been changed over to what they call
“No Fault”. What’s that mean? I’ll be calling my broker today to get better detail on that but what I did learn is that my insurance company is footing the bill meaning I have to pay a deductible. Go figure!!! tickedoff
Her car sustained some scuffs from my trunk that is now totalled, that can be buffed out meaning she will not put in a claim for her car as there is no need. Her hitting me, is costing me out of pocket and she pays zero nor does her insurance company. This method is supposed to save money as the need for lawyers is not necessary. Ha, I may need one to go after my own company as there’s not a hope that I’m paying a deductible.
I’ll find out more today but this doesn’t surprise me in today’s world, especially with the legalized theft granted insurance companies.

Chris, for fun I went to Honda and had to hold myself up at the counter when the gave me the price for just the fender!  Shocked

And yes the lighting may not be the greatest, she came to a stop behind me so she knew I was there, I figure she forgot I was there as she hit me just as the last car went by trying to time entry into traffic…I don’t know.

T-Man:
Sorry for your misfortunes, both your ride And No Fault. MI has no fault; more accurately referred to as
“MyFault”. You get to pay for everything when someone hits you & cannot sue for deductibles or anything
Else.  Doesn’t matter who is at fault, you get to pay it all; ought to be illegal, same as no insurance at all!
Yeah it saves money- for the scumbags that drive around causing damage & run away screaming
“No Fault, No Fault!!!”
Good Luck, you’re gonna need it!
May be some extra-legal remedies- maybe have a BBQ at driver’s lawn hosting several hundred of your closest biker friends.
Could take out a Craigslist ad with drivers address fo Free Lawn furniture, come get it. Free sod, u cut.

Same as No Insurance at all!
It’s a scam
Should be called “My Fault “
You pay in and pay again when lowlife smashes your ride. Needs to be outlawed & subscribers refunded

Check with your insurance agent. Generally “ no fault “ is the medical side of the insurance coverage.

There is a new fender in your color on eBay for $175. There is also a salvage parts dealer in Florida. I think it is something like Suncoast. You can find the parts out there somewhere. Glad you are not hurt.

if you have to pay your deductible, have your insurance company go after her insurance company to pay you back the deductible.  I do not get this 'no fault' bs.  If you not caused accident, it is the other's person's fault, someone has to be held liable.

Getting the claims adjuster to cough up the dough is another thing been dealing with this since April 18th hail damage house and both vehicles 2 separate insurance companies.
