The wife and me were driving (pretty conservatively, certainly not driving like a racecar), from Meriam Ar to Montgomery on I65S, on our wat to Dothan(where we are spending the night). This lifted, 4wd dark colored 1/2 ton Ram pickup, whom we had passed (non-aggresively) started encroaching on my lane. I moved over/slowed down to let him in front, then when he started again, I moved over and did the same thing slowed to let him. When he started encroached THAT lane, I hit the brakes HARD but no tire screeching. He passed in front, then went into the median, drove a short distance, then came THROUGH the barrier. I had hit accelerator pedal to get the heck out of there,  but I  saw him come through/ over the barrier, tearing the tire on driver side front off the rim, and doing additional damage to his truck, before  coming to a stop in the middle lane. We were gone, and after the excitement  of that 2-5 seconds, and we were safe, we boogie. I did see other drivers stop to help him.

Our guesses were he had fallen asleep, wasn't paying attention,  had some medical issue, or had a road rage incident. My We figured the local drivers could more effectively contact 911. A very adrenalin moment.

Those occurances happen fast.  Gotta always be on the lookout.   Glad you and the wife are ok.

unfortunately,  these type of issues with drivers on the road are becoming more and more common, at least around my area.    Falling asleep at the wheel, medical issues, playing with cell phones, seem to be a weekly occurrence but usually is cell phone use.   One lady last week had her cell phone while driving in town with traffic right on top of her steering wheel in front of her vision texting away right next to me.  What I would not give to have my dad's old 1986 caprice classic tank of a car which I do not care if got dented or not on the roads.  There would be a lot less cell phone texters driving their vehicles on the roads.
