I’ve only had two street bikes in my life…my Suzuki 800 Volusia and my Valkyrie. I had opportunity to ride an F6B years back but turned it down, saying those exact words…ignorance is bliss! I love my Valkyrie just as I did my Volusia. If I hadn’t rode the Valkyrie, I would still be riding the Volusia. So I didn’t ride the F6B because I didn’t wanna know any different.
Fast-forward to yesterday. As some of you may know my Valkyrie is not in the service right now due to an accident. A buddy of mine calls and says “hey let’s go for a ride, you can ride the Indian.” Naturally, I said “thanks but no thanks don’t want to be responsible for your bike.” He didn’t like that answer and after going back-and-forth on the subject, I finally agreed to go. Well, I’m glad I went as it was a great day for a ride, being so close to winter. The days for riding are gonna be few and far in between from here on in. Then, on the other hand, riding the Indian was an eye-opener! There are more bells and whistles on that bike than in my truck and my truck has way too much stuff. Digital and analogue gauges, heated grips, heated seat, sound system, buttons here, buttons there, buttons everywhere! Actually, too much stuff but I suppose once you got used to it, a guy wouldn’t be so distracted by it. It rides like a Cadillac. Went over cattle gates that disappeared. It cornered beautifully, had plenty of power and sixth gear is dangerous!
Funny, I’ve talked about what I would get to replace the Valkyrie if I had the money, I’ve always said an Indian and I’ll hold to that…
