The First Women to Travel Coast to Coast in the USA on Motorcycles - 1916

I just saw this on a Facebook post, verified it at the link below.  I was impressed so, I thought I would share it with you all.

In 1916, sisters Augusta and Adeline Van Buren rode motorcycles from New York to California to prove women could handle demanding dispatch-rider duties. Over roughly two months and more than 4,000 miles, they crossed difficult terrain and harsh weather.

They were arrested multiple times for wearing riding breeches—men’s clothing at the time—yet they continued and finished in Los Angeles on 8 September 1916. Their coast-to-coast trek made them the first women to ride solo motorcycles across the continental United States.

I remember that story, but  there really weren’t any roads back then…

They must have been real bad ass!!!  Riding around in  breeches, breaking the law!, no tunes, navigating, doing maintenance
