When I left Ossining to cross the Tappan Zee heading to Orangeburg there was no wind to speak of

but crossing the 3 mile long bridge westward I would say I was getting hit from my right around 25mph
The bike was ocillating almost like a tank slap at one point above center span so I slowed way down to 50 and turned the flashers on  sure enough this is the weather.com for the east side of the bridge at 9am

High 61F. Winds E at 15 to 25 mph.    Gusts at bear mtn were 29 but who knows what it is mid span

We have ridden in much worse

When I got to mom's house (which I was showing to a broker) around 830am I went online and saw it was getting worse

By the time I left it was blowing pretty loud so I decided to head 20 miles north to take Bear Mtn Bridge    and got off at the Perkins Drive overlook road which was in the lee of the mountain.

Bear Mtn bridge is  worse because the way the land lies wind is funneled into a chute about half a mile wide at the bridge  If you have been to any of my rides you know the area.  Better a minute crossing there than many minutes among trucks crossing the TZ for sure

Sure enough I had to be leaning well to my left the whole way across and then leaning the opposite way along the east side of the mountain until I got south to route 9.  The gusts were thrilling the bike however was just riding well and in fact i am sure it likes the colder weather riding

That was my first ride in over a month as I just got a new battery  for the bike

Even a scary ride is better than no ride at all, (mostly)

On the plus side not that many tree limbs down on the way home   Cool

Yes it was a bit breezy. Oh wait. That’s because I was going fast in this

While watching Al Roker this morning, he forecasted the winds and said that it wasn't mother nature's doing it, it was DC sucking the life out of the country.   I think I heard that right.  Wink

Living in WY for a while, winds were  normal.   I rode out a ways one day, on the way home I was leaning the bike, a CB750, nearly 20 degree of center just to go straight.  Even the semis were going slow an their cabs were leaning to the about the same amount.

Been out a number of time where the wind was blowing around here, OR.   The Valk I/S does pretty good in a cross wind.  Lot better than the 750.    smitten

yah, only riding cycles a few times in 30 mph or more winds, not fun for sure when a wind gust say over 40 mph comes up and shakes the cycle sideways all of a sudden.

Been trying to get on weekends stuff done like shed/trailer/window trim from April hail damage and has to be OVER 50 degrees to paint and last 3 weekends has been right at 50 or lower but the darn winds this sunday when 52 out and cloudy felt like 42 degrees out.  Next weekend in 40's not any better so hoping to get the holes patched in my shed and trailer and trim painted/primed/caulked on a nice WARMER weekend day in November, if that exists?

I did move my 2 scooters inside my enclosed trailer before dark Sunday at least and made room for my ATV and UTV in my 2 car garage so did accomplish something, along with changing oil in my car had 5300 miles on it since 5 months ago oil change.   I try not to go over 5000 miles between synthetic oil changes although I know the oil should last longer than 5000 miles, the oil looks awfully dark on GDI injected engines even after say 500 miles of driving.

Ever try a Used Oil Analysis to check how used that oil is?  Doing so will provide you with a lot of useful information as to engine wear.

7 to 8 k on synthetic changes is the usual.

Easy to do the very scientific test of putting it between your thumb and pointer finger and rubbing it to see the slipperiness of the oil  Huh?

Compare it to the new oil and gradually move the change intervals up by 1k and see if it looses that slippery feel. I have found that generally full synthetic does not change feel until about 7 to 8k. If it smells burnt or changes feel then change it but out of all the oil on every vehicle I have seen a consistent difference at that mileage. The oil does not seem to go bad and will still lubricate but there is a change from the new oil, otherwise I don't detect any change of lubricity from new to old so why change it till I do.
