I see that Social Security checks will increase by 2.8% next year. But the Medicare Part B deduction will increase by 11.6%. So for the average recipient, half of the COLA increase will go to Medicare. Retirement is expensive!

Ever since my Gastric Bypass (12 years and 5 days ago btw!) I actually prefer flat Colas, the bubbles hurt when they get stuck in my pouch.

I'll often get a bottle of Dr. Pepper and shake it up a bit to release some of the carbonation and make it at least partially flat before drinki....

The problem with this low COLA, is that it is not only for SS folks but also for us old retired Gov workers on Civil Service retirement.   Still have my gov Heath Insurance and it also goes up,  so a lot of the COLA goes to that.
