I listen to NPR on the treadmill every morning (music, never news).

This morning is all traditional Christmas choir music.

This brought back many happy memories from long ago singing in church and school glee club choirs, and of course Christmas concerts were our biggest events of the year.  I started out as a boy soprano, and even had a short solo once.  Later I was a 2d tenor or baritone.  I loved to sing and am dismayed I can't remember all the words to these old songs.

Forty years of tobacco has mostly destroyed my voice, so it's only in the shower or backyard now.

Living alone, holidays mostly come and go with no notice at my home.  But I spent an hour on the phone with my 96yo mom yesterday, and we relived old family Christmas stories from long ago.   smitten

The rain has quit and the sun is out, and if the roads dry out, I will try to get a short ride in.

Merry, merry and happy happy to you all.   Smiley

Merry Christmas Jess!!!

I still have my dad's Christmas Music.   It was on cassette tapes (recorded from LPs which I still have).  We play it in the evenings and afternoons, depending on the day and what tasks we have.

It takes me back to our "family" Christmas that we did almost all of my life (except for my time in the US Navy) at my parent's home in White Oaks, SC.  It was a true family gathering each and every Christmas with music from dad's collection.

And, not forgotten.

Mom and dad purchased a very nice two story four bedroom home in White Oak when mom and dad moved there.  So there was from for all of the family members each Christmas.

Those Christmas days are not to be forgotten.  I have a picture somewhere which, when I find it I will post it here.

Merry Christmas Jess!

Thanks guys.   Smiley

Well, I got two rides.  The first one was about a mile and it started raining, so I came back home.  Wiped the bike off and put it away, came in and took off my gear (it's chilly).  20 minutes later the dark clouds blew away and the sun was back out so I geared back up and took off for a couple hours.  The weather is really nuts; temps dropping way down and winds way up.  I had to stop out there and add heavy gloves and a down vest.  The big interstate turns into a sailboat in 40mph gusts.  I really wanted a ride, and I got one.
