Twenty Five Years Ago last week, this kid brought this brand new bike home...

Twenty Five Years Ago last month, this kid made it official with the Mrs...

On this day, Christmas Day 2025, this old man rode the bike in a t-shirt... She's a little cranky, BADLY needs a tune up, but still a joy to ride...

And last night at the annual Christmas Eve/My dad's birthday party gathering at my parent's house Kali's boyfriend did a thing...

(She said yes. They're making it official Sunday, this has been in the works for a while. No shotgun was involved. They close on the purchase of their first house on Monday. (The motivation to get out of the barracks is evidently quite strong.))

Hope all my VRCC brethren have a wonderful Christmas!

Thanks for sharing that with us Brian.  cooldude

That's a lot of stockings on the fireplace.

I was going to ask if those early pictures were the last time you shaved.  But I won't.   Grin

for a second there I thought I was looking at a young Sebastian Bach or an older Ted Nugent.

Hope all works out for the kiddo and the new barracks (home).  Sounds like a shotgun is too late at this point......

2 years ago my now age 27 daughter was engaged to be married we bought her wedding dress, venue all planned and his parents already paid for in advance (not cheap), and a few months before the wedding, she called it off.  My wife knew about it few weeks before me never told me, came up to daughters house and now ex fiancee and and daughter said sit down Dad,  have something to tell you.  I thought she was pregnant, but NO, said called off wedding, selling house they both bought together unmarried, and moving out all in a matter of a few months.   Was a shocker but in the end was a good move on her part did not like him to begin with near age 30 and still played 8 hours or longer straight on stupid online video games, dumb!!!!

Last year my now age 25 kid broke up with 2+year long girlfriend relationship lived together in his house he bought age 21 at the time.  Also a good thing she was not his overall type more self centered and cared about 'looking pretty' taking 1-2 hours EVERYDAY putting on makeup even on weekends and afraid of bugs of all kinds.

I knew both all along but how much can the parents say really they are adults after all right? I did confront my daughter after 1 year in and asked her do you really want to be with someone who plays video games straight all weekend long doing NOTHING ELSE?

Now both kids have new girl/boy friends and will see if that all works out now? Never met the girlfriend yet and will not for xmas she is a nurse and works weekends and night shifts sleeps during days.  Both kids are at least as I see it in a better place now than 2-3 years ago.

Hope it all works out since you have 3 other young ens to get them thru the fun years of boy/girl relationships.   And trust me, I wanted to 'in real life'  use the shotgun on 2 or 3 of my daughters boyfriends in high school and college but the wife talked me out of it ONCE and had to call the county sheriff to put a restraining order on one of the jerks to NEVER have any contact nor texting EVER again or he woulda ended up in jail or as far as I was concerned 6 feet under ground!!! coolsmiley

I'm wishing Kali fair winds and smooth sailing Brian.   cooldude

Nice suit.   Grin

BTW, re your first posted pic, in VA a 25yo vehicle/bike qualifies for an antique plate.

While I still have to pay annual registration (plate sticker), it gets me out of annual safety inspections and personal property taxes.  TX likely has no stinking safety inspections or personal property taxes, but if TX offers an antique plate there may be some benefit to one, and I think it's a cool plate.

I had one person remark my bike didn't look like an antique... "yes it is, just like me."   Grin

Thanks for all the kind comments ya'll!

I know I've mentioned this probably too many times, but Kali literally exists because of this group...

She is the product of this classic post:

https://www.valkyrieriders.com/silly.htm

And got a preview pic from the "Using a real camera not a phone" photographer:

Did that a few years ago. Texas recently did away with "safety" inspections altogether but some counties (The populated ones) still have emissions inspections for cages. (Although there's an option you can check when doing your registration renewal that you don't want to deal with it and it lets you skip it, but that's another story.) The Antique changes the registration from $70/ish a year to I think it was $50 total for 5 years.

That's a great look back at when the Valk came into your life. Marriage and the kids, then kids riding with you and now Kali starting down the same road. Congratulations to you for raising some great kids and to Kali as she starts a new chapter of life. cooldude
