Well I have found some old posts in a search, but What has everyone done for highway pegs on the IS?
I am 6 4 and I am thinking of just doing the normal generic Highway pegs on the engine guard... 
is there any issues with mounting?

On my X I just used the generic ones and it worked out great for what I needed..

There are a couple choices from Kuryakyn for Hwy pegs on the IS that mount to the lower engine guards.  The #4050 (clamps) are the best... some require you cut off the lower engine guard scoops to mount them where they are supposed to be....you can mount them below the scoops, but this brings them closer to you (and the ground in leans).  With longer legs, I would just use Kury quick clamps  (1 1/8") to the engine guards at the 3 and 9 O'clock positions with pegs of your choice (duallys are good).  If your legs are really long, you could go with clamps, to 4" offsets, to pegs.... using the offsets to put the pegs farther forward.  You must not mount lower than the 3 and 9 o'clock, because in steep leans you can drag the pegs, (or your heels below the pegs).  

I have Kury 4050s (which use duallys) on one IS (with cut scoops), and Kury quick clamps to small Iso pegs with stirrups on the other IS (you so not want or need large iso pegs regardless of foot size).  The 4050s folded up are held in tight to the bike and out of the way, but I still prefer the riding position of the pegs mounted on the engine guards better... but they are exterior to the bike, and can catch on things in tight spots (like riding into my shed) if I forget to put them up.  Also, my peg stirrups on the engine guards will drag in maximum leans.... but I really have no business on the HWY pegs at all doing spirited riding in the twisties anyway.  On either setup, I have the option of riding with my feet on the pegs, or stretching out with my heels over the pegs.

And... the problem with that is?  If you need to stand up while riding... that's what your OEM pegs/mounts for boards etc. is for.  It's a hoof rest while you're stretching your legs... does its intended job.
