Just read a post from Florida. It is so cold ,Iguanas are falling out of the trees. It is a simple harvest. just walk and pick up. No limit. Some had truck loads. Also recipes posted. The eggs are boiled, mixed with avocado and other ingredients to make salsa. Wish I was closer. I love to cook and this would be a new adventure. da prez

There's a theory that all animals that evolved from dinosaurs (Of which chickens are one) taste like chicken from the common ancestry....

The reason people so often say, "It taste just like chicken," is that chicken has no real taste of its own. Chicken taste just about like whatever is used to cook it. That is true of rattlesnake ans a lot of other meat dishes, but not bovine. People very seldom say, "It taste just like beef."

Some are paid 7.00 a piece to turn in invasive species hides or bodies.

And from social media, right on cue the Iguana Rights campaigners are firing up: We weren’t inundated with these beautiful creatures like some areas. We had a few who I would always see while walking my dogs. They would see us coming and scurry up the trees. The dogs would stop and watch them while I chuckled. I looked forward to seeing them during our walks. The neighbors actually gave some of the long timers names. Yesterday our walks were different. The mood was somber and still is. No beautiful green creatures scurrying up trees. All that remains are their lifeless little bodies. The ones who died immediately and the ones who barely survived while trying desperately to make it to a sunny spot but their already weak bodies couldn’t get there. I will never understand how anyone could find joy in the death of Gods creatures. All I did was cry. Rest in peace little ones.
Cold. Paralyzed. Defenseless and killed.
In South Florida, iguanas are being grabbed while they’re paralyzed from the cold and killed simply because they exist. Turning iguanas into the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission shouldn't feel like a death sentence but for most of them, it is. Right now, after these cold snaps, people are picking them up because they've frozen and fallen from trees, helpless and barely able to move. Instead of being allowed to warm up and recover, they're being gathered, boxed, and turned in to be euthanized. Crates filled with scared, breathing animals. Nowhere to go. No second chance. Just a line to the end.
They didn’t ask to be born here. They didn’t migrate on their own. They didn’t choose to be labeled “invasive.” They're labeled "invasive" and blamed for "damage," yet most complaints are about cracked sidewalks, seawalls, and landscaping. Concrete isn't nature. It's something we built. We're choosing pavement over life.
Humans brought them. Humans altered the environment. And now the punishment falls on the animals.
Iguanas are not aggressive. They do not hunt people. They are largely herbivores, minding their own business, trying to survive in a world that keeps changing around them. Killing an animal while it’s helpless from cold stress isn’t “management”—it’s cruelty dressed up as convenience.
What rarely gets talked about are the benefits of iguanas: • They help disperse seeds and contribute to plant growth • They are part of the food chain for native predators • Their presence reflects ecosystem imbalance created by humans not animals. Deforestation to create concrete jungles, climate control, pollution.
If we truly care about the environment, the answer cannot always be violence. Ethical, humane solutions exist. Education exists. Coexistence exists.
Compassion should not stop where inconvenience begins.
Wildlife doesn’t need to earn the right to live. They already have it.

Florida is a perfect environment for the Iguanas proliferation.
Until it isn't.
Lower than 40' F it isn't.
Could be why Mother Nature didn't let them in and humans f-ed them up by importation.
Kinda like the Biden Administration and illegals, the Iguanas are the ground level victims of poor sighted people.
It's claimed they cause structural damage to foundations and like, but more importantly, they compete with native wildlife for food and territory.
Where's the liberals calling for the native species rights?
We need Iguana ICE enforcement. Or maybe Mother Nature is problem solving for us.
