Been sittin since October or November can NOT recall which but fer the sake of NO argument lets go with Oct. Anyway ya slice it 4 months maybe a bit more. She sat neglected all that time due to weather too much snow too cold too wet etcetc! So today the construction wuz FINALLY completed and I went down to My Friend J Ts place where he has Graciously offered me garage space and got on with the job at hand. Turned the key on All the lights came on like they're sposed to found neutral held in clutch and brake 4 turns and she fired right up! And I was in Fact SURPRISED!! Figured I Not ONLY got a good scooter But said scooter got one fine battery in it and NO I do Not recall the brand! BUT I Will endeavor to git that piece of info. And I generally do NOT treat my scooter like that but well kaka happens! And 2moro sposed to be better than today so hopin I can git a RIDE in even if the RIDE seems short it are way Better than no Ride! RIDE SAFE,

While I love my 2018 DCT Wing, I have much respect for the 5th series also. They are almost 2 different bikes. The 5th is more comfortable, from what I've heard, and the 6th is more sport/touring. Both are amazing motorcycles Our Valks are in the family tree and are also unique.

Agreed. Of all the advantages the GL1800 has over the GL1500, fuel injection is at the top of the list. Not just because of easier starting, but much better fuel mileage and never having to worry about hydro-lock. Two of my other favorites are the improved audio system on the later versions with a bigger amp and MP3/USB support, and electronic cruise control. I never knew how much I'd use cruise control on a bike.

Both are amazing motorcycles Our Valks are in the family tree and are also unique. It's interesting how the first four generations of the Wing got larger and more comfortable, while gen 5 and 6 became sportier and more performance oriented. I always thought of the GL1500s of the '90s as the motorcycle version of a Lincoln Town Car or Cadillac Sedan Deville. But when I test drove a 2001 GL1800 I was amazed at the handling and thought it was more equivalent to a luxury sports sedan from Germany or Japan. The evolution of the Wing resembles the car market in many ways.

I did the same with my 2008 the other day...
...dead battery...
On the tender it goes for a few days and NOW it starts right back up.
I'll admit, if the 1500 Valks had FI one would likely still be my primary ride.
I still have my Valk, and try to ride it often enough to not let her not become rideable, but she needs a good carb rebuild at this point sadly...

The evolution of the Wing resembles the car market in many ways. That’s a real good way of explaining the difference between them. I have (I call it my wife’s bike and I’m just the chauffeur) a ‘95 Aspencade and it rides like a dream and Barbara loves the big comfy backrest, I bought a new Ultimate seat for the bike when I go it. The ‘95 suits our need to ride together as Barbara likes to just cruise around nice and easy, she’s not one for long highway miles.

My long time riding buddy from the early Valkyrie days had two started, with a 99 standard and moved to a 2001 Interstate. The interstate was short lived as he had a serious get off on it, for the bike anyways, and wound up getting an 2001 Wing. He was always having me ride his new bikes as he seemed to care about my opinion. I was blown away by the performance and the smooth delivery of power. At the same time the handling was striking. So I was hooked for nearly 20 years but continued to ride and enjoy my Valkyrie. Back in 2001 a Wing could be had for around $15k but even that was too rich for my blood so I had to wait until 2022 to buy a low mileage well cared for 2008. I paid too much but what else is new? I miss the hot rod look of the Valkyrie and I even miss the straight cut whine of the transmission. I may be running out of time to revisit the Valkyrie as I have more demands on my time in retirement than when I was working. But, the memories are alive and well and the Wing satisfies all my in the wind itches for now. Long live the Valkyrie
