Not sure if you mean 8021 (longhorn) and 8004 (standard).

I tried that years ago, never had much luck with it's funtion, although it looked good. Mine was not a good fit, always loose. The set screw was tiny and could not be tightened properly. I wrapped my peg in small pipe strap, then fit this peg over it. That worked for a short while, then I gave it to someone who needed one on the board.
Maybe others have tried it and had better luck?

I did this mod and love it.  Looks awesome and has been rock solid.

Only problem I had initially was a touch of rust where I ground the old peg off which I fixed with a quick shot of clearcoat after touching it up with a piece of sand paper.

Tundra,

I think you may be referring to the Kuryakyn 8851, which slips over the existing peg.

I (and I believe the other posters) was referring to the Harley peg that requires grinding off the existing shift peg and drilling and tapping a new hole to mount the new peg (KUR-8021 or KUR-8004)

Tundra,

No reason to apologize and no reason to disregard your post.  I think the 8851 got lousy reviews, and you confirmed that it was not a good purchase.

You might want to try the other modification for the Kury peg.

[I'd post a picture but I'm on dial-up.]
