Dublin, TX is celebrating their second annual Cowboy Culture Celebration April 23-24. The parade will be on Saturday 24. Would be nice to have a bunch of Valkyries show up for the parade that starts at 11 am. That's late enough to still get your beauty sleep and make it to Dublin, even from north of Dallas.  While your here you can enjoy the celebrations. How about a cattle drive through downtown, wild cow  2funny milking, mexican rodeo, cowboy mounted shooting etc etc. Last year was a blast!  cooldude

Anybody interested let me know and I will reserve us a spot. ~TJ

Good idea.

Cowboy hats instead of helmets?

This might actually work for us. We're heading down to the Houston Ride For Kids that weekend, but it's not until Sunday.

Hey TJ, sounds like a lot of fun, do you only want Valks or is more the merrier? I will try and get some of my crew to ride down and join in the fun, let me know. Billy

Not sure of my April schedule - except for Hotglue's GOTF the weekend before, but that sure could be fun.  Might try to round up some cowpokes from around here to make the ride...only about 160 miles from these parts! Smiley

Sorry for the slow response, been busy helping out with a retreat for 95 teenagers this weekend, called SEARCH.

I have only posted this on the Texas VRCC board. All bikes are welcome if you don't mind riding with the VRCC group (that would be the name on the entry form). For those coming from the DFW area I can meet you somewhere North of Dublin like the Tolar, TX area and take you by scenic as in curving back roads into Dublin. Like the idea of going on the Ride for Kids also, however I will have to pass on that.

There has been a change that I need to check on. The entry form indicates parade starts at 10 am versus 11 am on web page and entries have to be setup by 8:15am for judging. I presume we do not need worry about being judged. Grin ..... Unless y'all (that's texan) coolsmiley want ride in booths, hat's and throw a saddle or rope on your bike etc....... Will keep you posted.

Grin.......Found out the parade starts at 11am as is mentioned on-line.... coolsmiley.Me think that's better!!!
I will also provide brunch in the form of breakfast burrito's, donuts, coffee, OJ and a place for a bathroom break before we go into Dublin. Just need a head count. Also if some of you want to unload some gear you can leave that at my place. We are only 2 miles from town.~TJ

TJ, it sounds great, I am still talking to my group and two others and will try to let you know this weekend for sure and how many I can get to ride down. What time do you think we would need to leave Benbrook to get there in time for this party? Talk to ya soon. Billy

Yesterday I rode the scenic route back to Dublin from Granbury. It adds about 30 minutes. .....So thinking out loud.... Parade starts at 11am. gather @ 10:30, arrive at my place @ 10:00 means leaving Granbury at 8:30 for the scenic tour or at 9:00 for a ride south on 377. What do y'all think? Both look very doable to me. TXFireman where do you want to meet in Granbury? FYI rode south to Bluff Dale took back road to Morgan Mill, Huckabee, Lingleville, Bunyan and Dublin. Should be a nice ride in April.~TJ

Don't know whether we'll meet you in Granbury or just catch up with you closer to Dublin, but the plan for now is to hit the parade and then ride down to Humble to meet up with some southern Valk riders and then do the Houston Ride For Kids the next day.  Rocketman posted a  separate thread to the info on that ride for anyone who wants to make the run with us.

Sounds like a great day, TJ.  I'm all for the scenic route if that is part of the final plan.  To avoid the metromess, I'll take 380 to Decatur and pick up 51 south.  If memory serves, 51 / 4 comes all the way to the square in historic downtown Granbury.  We could meet there or at a gas station convenient to the most folks.  I'll be needing a fill-up soon.

Dave you beat me to it, I was going to bump this post, thanks. I think their is a Chevron gas station

http://web.sa.mapquest.com/chevron/advantage.adp?transaction=locmap&ph=300&pw=380&mapStyle=2k9a&name=ELVAN%20GRANBURY&address=407%20W%20PEARL%20STREET&city=GRANBURY&stateProvince=TX&country=US&latitude=32.442273&longitude=-97.791008&iconid=31039001&tempset=cvx_locmap

on 407 west Pearl which is also 377 Business and State Loop 426 and FM 51. If your coming down 51 you turn right at the square, gas station is a few blocks on your left. From 377 south you take 377 business to the square and go straight. Should be easy to find. Looking forward to it!

Thanks,

Billy,

Appreciate the invite.  Looks like we'll be taking the direct path down due to timing.  If my plans change, I'll meet you at Benbrook.  If you see a black Valk with a sidecar along the way, that would be me.
