My clutch switch must be bad. It clicks but wont start in gear. I think it has been this way for a couple years. Question is, can I unhook the 2 spade wires and then unhook them inside the switch housing and do away with them all together? Or do they serve a purpose? Reason I ask is cause I aint going to replace it. I lived with it for these years just fine. I can find N fairly quick at a light if it dies.

Fudgie, I wouldn't do anything with it since you feel you're used to being without it. It's not going to hurt anything to leave it as it is. To make certain it's the switch, pull the wires off and put an ohm meter across the same pins as the wires were on, then pull in the clutch. If nothing happens, in other words it doesn't move the needle to show continuity, then the switch is bad. If it does go all the way over, the switch is good and you have a problem elsewhere. But like I said, if it's the switch and you're used to not using it, just leave it alone.

I agree with John, leave it be if you don't want it. Connecting the wires would make it possibly to hit the starter with the bike in gear.  Cool

If it is the switch, its easy enough to fix.  Pull it off and you can see the points through a little hole in the side.  The points oxidize over time.  Cut a sliver of 400 grit sandpaper and work it in between the points to polish the oxidation off, and it'll work fine again.

Ok I'll give her a shot. I thought if I dont use it might as well take it off and clean up the area a little.
