Last night I finished installing the Signal Dynamics run, turn, stop conversion. Everything works fine except for the fast blinking on left or right turn activation. I pulled what I think is the signal light relay under the left cover in front of the battery. It's 4 pronged, with a black rubber cover on it. Is this the correct flasher to replace or is it just a relay? I've heard of installing a heavy duty flasher, but am not sure if this is the flasher. Any help would be appreciated.

If this is am "LED" conversion, you will need a load compensator. Several are available. There are probably other ideas to fix this also. I'm sure others will chime in shortly. Good luck!

I have a load equilizer, but the instructions indicated I would not need it. I think it is only needed if there is not enough current to operate the lights.

OOPS, found the flasher, just had to feel for it with the signals on. Now all I have to do is find a HD one.

What difference does it make if it flashes fast or not.  See the point is to get the people behind you attention so they don't run you over. So if you blink at a  so called normal pace you blend into the background. But if you blink fast people will notice you and maybe cut down the odds. I left mind blink fast so I get noticed.

Had to replace my flasher this weekend.  I went to a auto parts store and asked for an EL-12.  They didnt have any but cross referenced it to a FL32.  This one is 2 prong instead of the 3 prong thats on the bike.  Use the Grey and Black wires and crimp a couple of connectors on em.  Polarity doesnt matter.  A tip I got was to cut the wires an inch or a little more back from the connector incase you need to reuse it later.  I put it back and tied the new one down near there behind the coolant reservoir.

Thanks, I installed the load equalizer that was included with the converter and alls well. I'm not against fast blinking, it's just that fast blinking usually indicate a bad bulb. Thanks for the input.

Dan, I think you're absolutely right.

Installing multi LEDs on the rear of my wife's bike, I had a devil of a time with fast turn signals and also intermittent blips.  I used the requisite heavy duty flasher in lieu of load equalizers..... which cause the LEDs to draw as much juice as regular bulbs...and which get HOT while wasting that juice (hot enough to damage paint from the inside out).  I spent several weekends chasing down the problem....which was all a ground issue.   (I suck at auto electric OK)

Anyway, during this time I sat and thought the same thing.  A fast flashing turn signal is not illegal, and it draws much more attention than one blinking like everyone else's (& cars) at the normal rate.  Turn signals could save your life, so what's the downside if they go blip/blip/blip instead of  flash..........flash?

The downside to me was that if I left it flashing quickly, it would be bright evidence that I did not know what I was doing on the install  LOL.  So I spent forever chasing all the wrong reasons they weren't working until I got it figured out.    uglystupid2

But I should have left them blinking fast (on my wife's bike)!!
