New Valkyrie owner. delt with the impossible to start. Then I found that the push leaver did nothing to the linkage on the carbs. Purchased a new chock cable, it is on the way. Previous owner made the bike too loud for me, he sugested I put steel wool in the end pipes. This showed me another problem. The right side exhaust is extrimly HOT while the left side seems to be normal. What is the problem and How do I solve it?

Are you sure you pushed the choke lever all the way?  When it meets resistance it's only at the beginning of the cable's travel.  You have to really push it hard to get where you want to be.

The exhaust runs reasonable hot, extra hot could be extremely lean or extremely rich. A look at the spark plugs should tell you which.

It it possible that the real problem is the cool left side  ---  not all cylinders firing --- that makes for a cooler exhaust.

+1 Willows reply on choke   -- should line up with the seam on the switch housing.

Check both choke cables, maybe one sides open and one is closed.

Take the cover off the choke lever and lube inside.  Mine was not closing all the way and hard to start before I did this.  Now it starts fine in the coldest weather.

There are three screws that hold the choke covers on each side.  Long shiney pieces below the round carb tops.  Take these off and operate the choke and watch on each side and see if anyting is moving.  Most new owners assume that the choke is operating as soon as you move the lever.  It is not, that just takes up the slack.  When you feel some resistance you are starting to open all six fuel enricheners.  Keep pushing down and watch as the small brass valves open.
On the temps one side vs. the other, make sure all the exhaust pipes are hot on the cool side.  Possibly only running on 1 or 2 cylinders on that side.

replace the intake manifold o-rings. get ones made from viton. they leak over time causing lean conditions.
