Do Your Best and Miss the Rest!

Yorkville, Illinois

« on: March 12, 2010, 05:28:20 PM »

Hey all! It's been 3 long years since my accident in which I went flying headfirst into a 1999 Cougar. The driver was a 17 yr old girl who blew a stop sign and presented her driver's door to my dragon.
Impact speed was 45 mph and I wasn't wearing a helmet. I had facial fractures, a broken right hand, a shattered left wrist, a broken vertabrae and 58 staples and stitches in my head. Needless to say, I'd probably set off the metal detectors at the airports.

I went through many decision making processes. My 2001 Interstate was totaled with over 12k in damage. Along with seeing if I'd physically be able to wrestle and wrench on a replacement...I had to let things cool off with the family side...who were dead set against me getting another.
Slowly but surely I convinced them that this was my passion and I'd rather die doing something I loved than to sit in a rocking chair and grow old...too afraid to get out and experience the thrills we all know.
I had the opportunity to purchase a 1999 Interstate in fast black...like the original. Unfortunately, I was not able to grab any chrome/goodies from my old bike, nor was I allowed the opportunity to buy it back from the insurance company. So I've been rebuying most of what I had on the old bike and am trying to get Dragon II to look like my original. Needless to say, prices have gone up a tad. Sad

So I just wanted to say "Hey" again...and I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting the new members of the VRCC.

Welcome back...  You did it a lot faster than me.  Took me 10 years to convince the wife unit, after I was clobbered by a DUI.

Build yer new lady, the way ya want, and ride with zest!  cooldude

Good to have ya back.
