Looking at purchasing a Valkyrie Interstate trike. Doesn't have a rake kit on it. Owner says it doesn't need it, steers fine. Maybe, maybe not. Does anyone on the board own one without EZ Steer, & if so, what do you recommend?

Mine isn't raked. I've looked at replacing the triple tree, was told 6 degree is recommended for GoldWing, but 4 degree for Valk. I just muscle it, so far, so good.

Contact Daryl at www.XF6-custom.com. He can help you decide which way to proceed with raking your trike. If the discussions I've heard are true, you might want to consider doing it.

I'm with Lyn-Del, haven't met a curve or corner that couldn't be handled. But I also trust Rick, who has the conversion and loves it. Just personal preference, I guess.

Jim, I orginally put a 4 degree on my I/S trike, this winter I replaced with a 6 degree... What a difference..My vote is for the 6

I installed a 4.5 rake Steerite on my Valk sidecar rig. I drove only a short time with the OEM triple tree. A raked tree makes a world of difference. Much easier steering .

Interesting thread being that I'm bringing my Valk Trike (Motor Trike) in this week to have a rake installed. I find it interesting to see the different opinions regarding what degree rake should be applied to the Valk. From 4 through 6. The dealership I use is an authorized Motor Trike service center. They told me I should have a 6 degree rake installed so,, that's what I'm going with. While I'm at it I'm also installing progressive springs up front.
The trike really isn't that bad to steer. The fella I bought her from had the same opinion as others in that a rake really wasn't necessary. But I guess I'm getting older and I do feel it in my shoulders even after a short ride. I also belong to another forum called "Trike Talk". Everyone there swears that raking a trike is the best mod you can do. They basically describe it as going from driving a truck without power steering into a sports car with power steering. We'll see.

I know that when I helped Goody build his we felt that the rake made all the differance in the world. Goody also used a rear tire on the front mounted backwards. Shortleg[Dave]
