I have a question about the wiring of the Audiovox CCS-100 cruise control being installed on my 2000 Tourer. The how-to instructions in the shoptalk install article shows the RED wie to a constant "hot" source and the ORANGE fused wire to a "switched" source. My question is-can both wires be terminated to a switched source so that power is not constantly "on" or is it indeed necessary to have power to the servo constantly "on" through the RED wire ? I remember reading something about this but was not able to find it again while trying to search/research this question. I was also going to post my source for the cruise control unit but in just checking found that the source I used no longer has the unit listed. I am taking my time, going slow and checking things twice as I go so... hopefully no problems when I fire it up. Once again THANK YOU to all who participate on this board with your time and knowledge. Weather is beginning to be nice here in Michigan so it's about time to ride. Hoping to be at IZX.

If you have not seen it, here is a link to Quexpress's write-up.  Very detailed and well laid out article.  I used the information on adding a  relay after I added a brake light flasher and mine quit working.  Works again now.

Yes, most definitely you can tie those two together. I've had mine operating that way for the last four years at least. As a side note, I got rid of the connector that came with it and is located about 2' from the handlebar control box. I soldered the wires together and made a connection under the seat. Reason....on my Tourer that connector was going to be subject to the elements, rain, dirt, etc., so I got rid of it as stated.

I had a wiring break right in that connection and it was a b#$@% to find because it broke right at the pin. I to removed the connection and soldered and shrink wrapped the the soldered connections.

Thanks to those that answered! Have everything installed, wired, connected etc. Tomorrow I will have to reinstall the airbox and tank. After that it will be time to see if it all works as I hope it should. Once again thanks for the answers and those that provide the installation instructions/details/pictures.
