Trailer & Hitch

Last year I came across a great deal on a trailer and decided to buy it. It wasn't the color I wanted so that needed to be changed, Just so happens one of my best friends is a custom painter. Then came the hitch for the bike. I decided I could make one myself. So, I made cardboard templates, took me 4 hours to get the templates the way I wanted them. Anyway, long story short....it is finally DONE!

Note: The license plate on my Valk reads: 1KLRB  note the license plate on the trailer.

Would love to see how you mounted the bracket...and who made it for you?

It mounts to the fenderbolts where your saddlebag brackets go. I bought some chrome spacers from ACE Hardware and had to order longer bolts. It mounts like all the other trailer hitches like Hitchdoc. As for the hitch itself, I made it but did have a company do the chrome. It is made out of 1/4" steel plate. I seen a hitch before on a Valk and just made this one from memory. I put the big chamferd holes it it to kind of make it look different from all the rest.

I have a question based on ignorance.  Why is the trailer so far away from the back of the bike?  In other words, why is the tongue so long?  Is there a benefit to having a longer tongue?  (Holy cow did I just set myself up for a good joke or what?)

Sweet looking set up there Westernbiker,very nice.

In the Uk,we are limited on size and weight when towing a trailer,we are not allowed to tow a trailer that is more than one meter wide and the length is to be no longer than 2.5 meters from the rear axle of the bike to the rearmost part of the trailer.There is only a couple of trailer manufacturers in this country and what was available didn't look very appealing,so I built my own from scratch.



The two big red reflective warning triangles are also a legal requirement.

It would have been $210.00 but I know Mr. Kerr (my dads friend) and he charged me $125.00
