I bought an Honda OEM windshield from the VRCC member and I noticed a difference from my windshield and my friends windshield on his Valk ..... his has a plastic strip that runs below the headlight cut out and mine does not have that plastic strip its wide open ..... a friend at one of the steelerships told me that my windshield is for a VTX and that they are very similar .....  is that true ..... is that the only difference in the two windshields ...... it fits fine  it came with the hardware but I wish it was a little taller ..... another friend of mine who has a VTX 1800 with a Memphis fats shield that he does not like , and he like mine ...... he's offered to buy a clear view shield and swap me even .... the ony problem there,  is he would have to find the Honda OEM hardware FIRST before he coud use mine ..... and nobody sells just the hardware by itself  now adays or do they ? so do I have a VTX shield ?  Thanks the Geez

Lots of people cut the lower section out of the shield. If you have highway lights, the shield is a pain to remove unless you remove one of the lights. Also if you tilt the shield for less buffetting, the lower section hits the headlight housing. You probably have the right shield.

Tilt mechanism for brackets = 1" between holes. Center to center measurement.

Sounds like you got a 'Clearview' shield...  It is an aftermarket shield, made to fit the Honda OEM hardware.  If it seems thicker, along with the missing area under the headlight, I'd put money on it.

Clearview shields are great shields.  I wouldn't be concerned.

You can order the hardware part by part from HDL......I ordered just the outer chrome peices after my little "incident"
