I was flipping through the AARP mag that we got in the mail.  There is a mention of restaurant discounts, go to www.aarp.org/restaurant

to get details.  You can search for participating restaurants by state or zip code.  Get this, you can purchase a $25 gift certificate for $3

Unfortunately there are no restaurants here, but when we travel on the bikes, it might come in handy.

Right now I am going to look up the area around Inzane, just in case . . .

I am a former member of AARP, not any more and for good reasons.

I'll take my chances on getting discounts for being 82. Grin

Make sure you read the mouse print AND call the restaurant to make sure they are still accepting these discounts before purchasing.

I too looked at those.  ALL of the restaurants anywhere around me were restaurants that I would normally not go to anyway.  Most were 'upscale' and just not my type.

My thoughts were places were overpriced to begin with, and names I had never heard of.  Usually the good ones you will have heard of from someone in conversation.

I have been a member for 15 years, and I'll tell ya that AARP is not what some think it is,it's not for poor people,LIKE ME,it's for the rich that do all those things . I'm gonna get away from them myself when its time to renew......because they support things that I don't!!!

Other than the AARP's Board of Directors came out in favor of this monstrosity Health Care Bill, soon to be law, and other than the AARP sells insurance and will benefit from the law, and other than the AARP LEO gave a large contribution to Obama's campaign, and other than the AARP is for gun control,  when all things are said and done, the AARP is a profitable, money making business that can claim high senior membership for their own agenda which is lobbying.

Thanks, SB.  I found a restaurant just down the street who has a coupon listed.  It is a $25 coupon for $3 but you must have a total ticket of $50 or more.

aarp is just a front for an expensive insurance company.
The agenda is not what I agree with at all.
And as Solo1 said, I'll take my chances without discounts.
Good info and thanks for the alert, though.

I have seen their insurance crap in the pharmacy business since their inception.  I can assure you that AARP is not for the elderly or the retired folks and they are certainly 180 degrees out from my way of thinking, including politics, legislation promotion, gun control, and several other things.  Basically, the roots of the organization are throughly entwined with the progressive movement...JTL  tickedoff

thank you all for your input.  I am looking at AARP with a new set of eyeballs today.  I did not know that they were for gun control, that alone (and there have been many other things mentioned) is enough to not renew when the time comes.

I had no idea.....thanks!

I still keep getting AARP invites in the mail, and i still keep writing "AMAC for me!" on everything, including the envelope, and sending their trash back to them in their prepaid envelope.

Damn Commies.  tickedoff

thanks for the link, Jeff.  We are cancelling our membership to AARP tomorrow.

I know this is a motorcycle board, but I appreciate the information that is shared about other things.
