when i apply front or rear brake a strange sound comes from my headlight

sounds like a combo of a ring and a growl.

when i let off the brake the sound drops to so quiet you can barely hear it.

doesn't happen every time, but about 8 times out of 10.

thanks for any help

first of all the sound is not coming from the headlight.  Brakes can make a bunch of weird sounds especially if the pads are worn or the spring clips are loose, and the soundss "transmit" sometimes.  Additionally there are two pistons, make sure neither are stuck.  If the front wheel has been off lately it could be misaligned......Several people have complained of brake noise with these floating calipers and pads and tight tolerances..........part by part just make sure its right and you have good pads.  Last thing would be wheel bearings, they can whine too

If by chance ya just replaced the pads, were they Honda pads on stock rotors?

EBC pads are not good on Honda rotors....

The are great on EBC rotors.

Stock rotors, use only Honda pads.

I think you should stop riding the bike around in the yard.

Evidently the dog doesn't like it!

You know, eventually you must start riding on the pavement!

Jus sayin'

Either that or take the headlight out and check for Gremlins maybe you got one stuck in the wires and everytime you hit the brakes he gets SHOCKED   2funny 2funny

I forgot to mention this happens sitting deadstill and level.
i haven't replaced brakes or had wheel off

had witness trace sound (while sitting still in neutral) and it's definately headlite bucket

witness was my wife (40 yrs) who has NEVER been wrong  Wink

looks like   windshield, headlite, etc  take apart time.

PS. don't own a dog and my back yard is a steep grassy hillside.

thanks Smokey

Perhaps an electrical short in headlight wiring. Perhaps when brake applied and brakelight engaged some power getting to a circuit in light.
Test by removing wires from brake switch , apply brake see if any sound.
Just a thought.

Take the two phillips screws out, remove the bulb and bezel, see if you have any unusual relays or wiring inside. Maybe it is a malfunctioning brake flashing gizmo that the PO installed in the headlamp bucket.
