Got to see the new '10 Triumph T-Bird up close at BikeWeek. Not that I am looking to replace my Valk or anything like that. Heck it's only 12 years old & only has 89K miles....NOwhere near worn out!
Anyways, I have a soft spot for Triumphs {former Rocket 3 owner} and ANY non-V-twink big cruiser that comes out piques my interest. This bike looks much better in person than the pics show & other than the uncomfortable {to me} feet way forward riding position it is very comfortable. No rides were allowed but they were allowing people to sit on them. I hear it has gobs of torque, around 90 HP & best of all a SIX-speed trans.
Stick a nice looking set of hardbags, find some way to have mid pegs mounted & I would consider it...as long as it doesn't vibrate!
Anyone else had a look at the new Triumph yet?
What did you think of it?

I read some on it. Did they start her up for you and if so how does she sound?
I like the look of her also.

I read that they added 20 lbs. of counterweight to the crank to help control the vibes. The article also said that it would accelerate from 1500 rpm in sixth with no problem. For the money there are still a lot of bikes I'd rather own.

No David they didn't.
I'll keep in touch with Shelly over at her Daytona Triumph store & ask her when they have one that can be test ridden. I'll ride over & check it out as soon as they do.
The Triumph people at the track said that it was very smooth & had a LOT of counterweight to dampen any vibration that the big {1600cc} parallel twin makes. I really like the belt drive & 6 speed combo. About the only thing I am not happy with on my Valk is the cruising RPM, an extra gear would be nice!

I don't remember seeing the floorboards on the other pictures I've seen, are the floorboards standard?

The boards are Triumph add-on. Pegs are standard. The bike I took the pic of was all decked out with Triumph accessories.
Looking forward to riding one. But I have a feeling it won't motivate me to trade the Valk!  Wink

Perhaps because I wanted to be the fonz when I grew up. I've been trying to convince my wife to buy a triumph at some point. Cool bikes.

Also, a previous Triumph Rocket owner(totaled), I want to see one up close.  I really like the other Triumphs(old skool) styling.  This one looks formidable.

I just read an article about this bike in "Cycle World".... That's a hot little bike... I may buy one down the road somewhere, but a new one with ABS will cost somewhere in the range of $14K, which ain't bad. Of course that's just to start, as you would have to get rid of those trashy leather bags and put a shield on it if you wanted to actually RIDE it. I'll probably wait three or four years and try to find one when I can buy it for less than $10K. Cheesy
