It’s done (install of the new 'Off-Set' Triple Tree, with Black Painted Forks)…  The first ride of the season is over, and I’m a happy guy!

Here's a first look...  I think it turned out pretty well  cooldude

The day started less than optimal, getting up before sun up, to go out in the yard and pick up dog poop, while it was still frozen (27 degrees, when I got up).  Ya gotta do what ya gotta do (why did I get a dog that could put a Brontosaurus to shame).

Read the paper, had a few cups of coffee, and headed over to Jim’s house, to finish putting the beast back together.

Should be quick…  Remount the Rivco spots, pull the ‘birds nest’ of wires through the headlight, check everything out, and I should be on the road.  As usual, this turned in to a ‘Steve’ project…  One of the two bolts that mount the left Rivco spot, stripped out the hole…  Jim lives in the middle of no where, and the closest hardware store is ½ hour away.  Take a drive, they have the same bolt, but 1/8” longer, and I’m in business…

Another view...

I put almost 100 miles on today, and the only way I can describe the new feeling of the ‘off set’ triple tree, is that in lower speed maneuvers (anything from a dead stop, up to say 40 mph), it that the Fat Girl lost a buncha weight!  No longer is turning right or left, from a stop, a struggle.  I think, and she reacts…  Parking lots, pulling her upright off the side stand, maneuvering in slower traffic…  It’s intuitive, and light.  Once up to speed (max was just a tad over 90 today), she is stable and tight.  One stretch of road, I set the throttle lock, and went almost 5 miles, without touching the handle bars.

Here's more of what I wanted to say.

Again, my post is getting cut short...

Daryl really knows his stuff.  He told me how it would handle & feel, before he even made the tree.  In this day and age, where most after market vendors are no longer making new things for our bikes, it's great to have folks like Daryl (and all the other vendors that still consider the Valk worthy of their efforts), coming up with not only functional accessories, but true works of art.

That's a new 'Talisman' bib & pouch too (another great vendor)  cooldude

Check out his site(s) at http://www.xf6-custom.com/ or http://www.vtx-treme.com/

See ya at InZane!

How much room did it open up between the fender and the radiator? It might help me clear a bigger radiator?

Momz,

Man...  Daryl is the only person, other than my brother, that has ever ridden my baby...  See if ya can get a nice big policy with 'Lloyds of London', and we will talk  Wink  I think we will be able to work sumpthin' out.

Where did you get the F6 tank badge? I haven't seen them around in a while.

Tundra,

I got the badges from Big Mike (Valkyrie Bling) at one of the InZanes in Johonson City.  Waited for the last day, he still had not sold them (too much $$$), I made an offer while he was taking down his display, and we both got a good deal.

How much room did it open up between the fender and the radiator? It might help me clear a bigger radiator?

Jeff,

Distance increase is just about 1".

Thanks for the comments guys  Smiley

Black Dog,

What have you done to your wheels, or are they custom wheels?  I've been looking for something "custom" in the way of wheels and I can't find anything.

I gotta admit Steve I had my doubts when you posted about painting the forks. The bike looks outstanding  cooldude
How much lower is it ? I love the floorboards however they don't look to have much " Give " ( do they fold as high as stock pegs ? )  I've been through 8 or 9 set's of stock driver pegs and wasted a set of Cobra floorboard years ago it just looks to me if those touch down ...well it would'nt be a good thing  Undecided . You've got a beautiful bike and as stated I had my doubts ....The painted folks set's the fat girl off  cooldude

39 Chevy,

Custom Wheels called 'Smoothies' (solid Disc), from RC Components.  Like so many other things, no longer made for the Valk.  Undecided

Joe,

The bike is not much, if any lower than before...  No change in 'rake', just off-set the forks forward about 1".  The running boards are not for your style of riding.  They do 'give' a bit, but they were hard enough to make, and watching you grind 'em thinner in one afternoon, would be just plain wastefull, and bad on yer wallet  Wink  I consider them my 'slow down' warning...  When I'm feelin' a bit frisky, all I gotta do is make some sparks, to remind myself to bring it down a notch  uglystupid2

As for the 'black' forks...  Glad ya approve  cooldude

That is absolutely SWEEEEEET, nice job.

So I gots me a question also,,,,Them crash bars in front of the saddle bags. Where did they come from? Custom or off a different bike or just another one of them things gone by?

Again as others have pointed oout teh Blacked out fork legs looks very nice, really does bring another great type of look for the FatGirl.

Black Dog, a question.

My Harley had 29K on it and the only parts that show ware was the forks, My Valkyrie is new to me with 12K now and the forks show signs of road junk stricks. My question is how does the painted forks hold up against road junk? How many miles do you now have on them?
