I was at a Kawasaki/Suzuki dealer yesterday and when I walked in, this elderly guy with a camo cap walked up (the salesman) and he was the one you just hate getting. You know, they guy who won't take "I am just looking - thanks." as a sign to leave you alone and let you LOOK. So, he goes into the hard sell about every bike on the floor - telling you stuff you could have told him (plus some). If I was looking for a bike, does he think I don't keep up with what motorcycles are out there and the pro and cons of each? I guess he gets people in that say, "I'll take that one - I like the color! But what do those numbers on the air cleaner stand for?" Anyway, he asks if I presently own a motorcycle. Yep. What kind? 1999 Valkyrie. How many miles do you have on it? (Getting ready to hit me with a trade in price I guess). Getting ready to roll a hundred. Oh, so you are like me!! You only get a mile or two in once a month or so. I know how work can be. I think he is joking and just shake my head up and down and continue looking at the bikes and trying to drown him out. So, he steers me over to these little cruisers and starts telling me about these two wheel motor vehicles. Eventually he says, "You know, even if you only have a hundred miles on your bike, it is getting some time on it. I hope you have changed the break in oil." Now I know he wasn't joking, so I tell him, "No, a hundred THOUSAND miles". OHHHHHHHHHHHH, then the Voyager is the bike for you. I had to leave but I sure got a laugh when I left. I called JP (Hard6) this evening and asked if that was true? Did I really have to change the oil even if I only had 100 miles on it? We laughed. Man, we really gotta start riding. I mean, since I am going to change the oil tomorrow and all....

Speaking of salesman. Gordon a.k.a. Lucky 13 and I were up at a local motorcycle establishment today checking to see if my tire had arrived. A guy in a Camo hat was looking for a larger cruiseer than he had at the moment. We showed him a used Valkyrie Standard and the guy looked interested. He then said he saw a bike on the show room new floor that he was interested in as well. It was a Boulevard wiht a M109 Suzuki Power Cruiser Engine set up for touring. Had the guy ready to buy then called the owner over to sell the bike to the guy. Camo Hat reversal in my story, but I don't even work there and I think I sold a Bike for the Dealership, along with Gordon's help of course. Al

Wondered where you had been Warren. Welcome back! Missed your presence on the board. The cold winter has put a damper on our riding the last 3 months but looks like things are warming up. You don't need to be having those nasty thoughts about trading in Traveler! NEVER NEVER NEVER get rid of your Valk! I went so far as to actually buy another bike {Rocket 3} with the possible intention of replacing my Valk. Well, you saw where that went. Rocket gone & a second Valk in the garage for Kim! Anyways, here's to you & more days like this one you & Hard 6 had riding from PC down the Florida west coast!

Last couple times I was in the Honda Stealership the owner offered to buy my bike off me (decent price too).
Last time he said "I can get you a brand new Goldwing in here tomorrow" I said, "I'm sure you would... call me when you start sellin Valks again!"
What do they think we are, stupid? Act like he's doin me a favor getting me a bike if I pay for it... jeez..

I have been wonderin' about you too Strider.
'Grats on your Saints in the SB too brother. They beat my Colts... but hell, there wasn't another team out there that could have, and I respect the Saints.
Glad you're home safe.

All salesman should be required to ride at least 10K a year, at least. Don't have time? We work and do it.

Breaker 1-9 to Hay Hauler. When a pipe is new it has fiberglass packing in it on some brands. The paper like stuff was muffler packing that usually wraps around the baffle assembly. As you ride this stuff slowly degrades and falls out anyway. Usually made of fiberglass. You are seeing extreme conditions and if you were behind it on the road, you would see it as well. Old two stroke moto-cross pipes had to be repacked wiht this regularly in the silencer or the bottom end power would suffer. Teh guy doing the test had a mischevious look on his face, like I am wringing the stuff out of this thing cause it ain't mine. Al
