Hey Valkyrie riders!.. I am very excited about my  purchase of a 2000 IS last week.. bought it right and looking forward to a great summer in Minnesota!... my question…The bike is in great shape, but maybe a little neglected over the last couple of years, needs some TLC, carbs need cleaning ect….  The pipes have turned a little yellow because of this I am guessing.. running too lean? Or rich?  Anyway.. I will correct that…. But is there a way to restore the pipes?  Or am I screwed to a point that I will need to replace?
Very excited to own this ride and looking forward to turning it into MY ride…  
Any other goodies you might suggest for my IS?

Have you tried to clean or polish them lightly with a polish (and I emphasize lightly)? 

Do you have a picture of them?  I know at times pictures don't show the actual condition of things, but something is better than nothing.

i bought soem colonel brassy's to see if the yellow'ish color would come off and it did. not sure if lean or rich is the problem. a lil' elbow grease and it made a huge difference.  Cool

guess maybe they are not that bad.... but i will be fixing it.. my other 98 Valkyrie's pipes are nice and shinny... Smiley  so this one will be the same... with a little work I am sure... i will check out the colonel brassy... thanks for that tip...

Are those after market pipes?

Double walled Honda stock pipes that is almost impossible to discolor that bad.

If they are stock pipes, someone ran the choke, enrichener, way way way too long...

Ya'll will need a lot of elbow grease to clean those up.    If it was me, I'd take them to a powder coater and have em coated.  Like these pipes on the Chevy.

Headers are ceramic, the mufflers are powder coated.   The yellowish link in between the header and muffler is a chrome piece that yellowed out.

Those are mostly not that bad.  there is a dark spot or two that concerns me.

A little Blue Job and a lot of elbow grease show bring them back to acceptable appearance.

(Incidentally, it's called "golding"  and is quite common.)
