My Trip to the Emergency Room
The other day I needed to go to the emergency room.

Not wanting to sit there for 4 hours, I put on my old Army fatigues and stuck a patch onto the front of my shirt that I had downloaded off the Internet.

When I went into the E.R., I noticed that 3/4 of the people got up and left.  I guess they decided that they weren't that sick after all. Cut at least 3 hours off my waiting time.

Here's the patch. Feel free to use it the next time you're in need of quicker emergency service .

It also works at DMV;  it saved me 5 hours.

And the Laundromat... three minutes after entering, I had my choice of any machine, most still running.

Don't try it at McDonald's;  the whole crew got up and left and l never got my order!  Evil

Several years ago I had an appendicitis attack.  My doctors office was right across the breezeway from the hospital.  Doctor told me what I had and to get right over to the emergency room.

I sat there for 9 hours before being admitted.  The reason it took so long to get to me is that I did not come in by ambulance and so was NOT considered an emergency.

Even folks having a minor auto accident who were brought in to be checked over were taken care of first.  I was getting pretty irritated before I was seen.

Nice slam of the illegal immigrant rainman... Angry

Notice I did not say undocumented worker. They are illegal,  police but can you blame them? Look at where many come from. If I were in their shoes, I'd likely take my chances too.

Especially the way the US dosen't control it's border worth a dam.  Undecided

Early Bird, I had the identical ER experience, only mine was a kidney stone.  I didn't know what my problem was, only that I waited for about 8-10 hours or so until the pain got bad enough that I though I might be dying (which is about the only reason I will ever go to an ER).  Had my wife drive me over; big mistake.  If you show by ambulance, you go to the head of the line (I learned that night).

Only my ER that Sunday nite was almost empty, no auto wrecks, no overdoses, no gunshots, no ambulances, no nothing, just a couple people hanging around watching TV.  It took over two hours to get triaged, and then they stuck me back in a room by myself (and wife), and no one came for another hour and a half.  And I mean I am doubled over in severe pain and groaning from the moment I staggered in there; but I would not beg the bastards for treatment.

So finally I tell my wife I'm going to play good guy (her)- bad guy (me); I tell her to stand in the door, and I am going to begin yelling for her to take me home, and she is to nicely tell me to wait.  I sound off in my CSM voice that the friking incompetent arseholes do not give a flying rats azz if someone is dying with pain, and if I am going to die I want to do it at home, so take me firkin home.  "No dear, I'm sure they'll be here soon."  And I sound off at max volume in the foulest and most colorful language I know, back and forth with the wife who is enjoying it all..... this is heard clearly throughout the ER, and probably the parking lot.  Amazingly, I had an IV and pain meds in about three minutes........... though I am certain I was undermedicated on purpose as I was in pain all night.

Despite their shoddy attitude and treatment, and contrary to their opinion,  I did not pass the stone that night, and did not pass it until late the next afternoon at my home.  I paid all my bills, except the Dr's (intern/resident) bill which I refused to pay.  I let it go to collection, and when they called and threatened to sue me, I told them that's what I wanted them to do.  The collection guy on the phone had never heard this before.  I told them I had been waiting over 18 months to get that beotch intern on the witness stand and burn her a new one for three or four hours (something I know how to do).  I told them to quit threatening me and hurry up and file the case so we could get to court, as I intended to subpoena half the ER staff and have a really entertaining day in court.  I never did hear back from them on that one.  And nary a mark on my credit record, as I threatened the collection people too if they failed to file a civil suit.

I still will not go to an ER unless I am fairly certain that I will die ...... and I'm not even sure then.
